We talk about 'listening to our bodies', and that's an acquired skill. And we now have access to great technology to better understand the language our bodies speak. HRV, body temperature, monitoring sleep... but the vast majority of this tech is developed by men, for humans. Female bodies speak a whole different language week to week, day to day... not to mention throughout different stages of our life. So, Olivia Orchowski founded FemTek and developed a basal body ring that takes all this into account. A revolutionary smart ring developed exclusively for women, by women, to enable us with better body literacy to open the lines of communication between us and this biological Ferrari we cruise around in. What's that? You're managing a health condition such as Endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD, Infertility and Irregular Cycles...? Yep, it takes all that into account too.
It's ace. She's ace!

Time to park the old 'just be nice' thing for a minute, we'll talk more about that later. But right now, the firecracker, Dr. Hannah Korrel is in the house. She's a Clinical Neuropsychologist, Registered Psychologist, author and an absolute rockstar when it comes to talking about how to be assertive, set boundaries and stop self-gaslighting... Oh yeah, raise your hand if you too indulge in a bit of that from time to time.
I really loved this chat with Dr. Hannah around all of the above, it's a bunch of the sometimes-complex human and relationship stuff that many of us grapple with at times and conversations like this one with Dr. H sure helps to highlight where we might be short-changing ourselves. So listen in, and let's all not do that anymore :)

Another week of 'pontifications' with Bobby Cappuccio. However, upon exploring what that even meant, Bobby learned a thing or two himself around his own vocabulary!
Anyway, this is us again doing what we love doing most... talking about life, meaning, manifestation, identity, certainty and all the things that make us tick (or not tick) in life.
Enjoy!

Lauren Mackenzie spent the vast majority of her life battling a severe eating disorder. From the age of 5 she recalls becoming body conscious and from the age of 9 developing an eating disorder. By Lauren's teenage years she was admitted to a facility where she unwillingly resided for 3 years, under the notion that she was being wrongly admitted and did not actually have a disorder at all. Lauren's weight at her height of 5'3" got down to a shocking 31kg.
Now managing a healthy weight and relationship with food Lauren is also armed with a relatively new diagnosis of autism, enlightening her as to some of her nuances around food, taste and texture and helping her develop self-awareness and self-understanding.
Today she shares her story with me in the hope that she'll be a resource for others who can relate to her experience.

That's right, psychopaths don't blink. Now there's something I'll be looking out for from now on (through my own very much blinking eyes).
Mark my words, Dr. Louise Mahler has shot straight to the top of my list of fascinating and fun guests I've had on the show. You may have seen her on The Morning Show decoding Donald Trump or on Sunrise analysing Meagan and Harry's relationship. Dr. Louise is a world-renowned body language expert and highly acclaimed speaker amongst other things.
Talk about a master of her craft, I had a ball learning a thing or two about what my own body language and communication style (the stuff beyond the words) is telling people and when you realise some of what's going on it sure is worth being aware of it.
I hope you enjoy the ep, and keep your eyes peeled for those non-blinkers out there!

What makes us overeat and why do we continue to do it when we know deep down, we really don't need or want to?
Armed with a BS in Biochemistry and a PhD in Neuroscience Dr. Stephan Guyenet has thrown himself into research around the neuroscience of obesity for 12 years now and argues against problem being a lack of willpower or understanding of what to eat. Rather, that our appetites and food choices are led astray by ancient, instinctive brain circuits that play by the rules of a survival game that no longer exists. Circuits that sure don't give a toss how we look at the beach this summer!
In this ep we talk about dopamine and pleasure foods, the blatant bullsh^t that manufacturers use in their marketing, how we are seduced by food and why do I go from not hungry to hungry after seeing that it's 'lunch time'.

I'm unpacking a recent thought tangent I posted on my socials... This is it:
What if... tomorrow you wake and realise that all of the yesterdays that once were todays, were actually the best it was ever going to get? And what if you realise you've wasted them all by sweating the small stuff. Chasing 'enough' without even knowing what 'enough' is.. maybe 'enough' comes the day we just pause and realise that we already are and have 'enough' to be happy. Appreciate today, today... before it fades away and hindsight is all that's left to remind us how fucking brilliant, precious and fleeting this life is.

It's not often someone can tell you to 'stick it up ya bum' and you can trust that they wholeheartedly have your best interests at heart. But if Josh Williams tells you this, you can trust he sure does. He's known as The Gut Guy, with his academic background in biomedical science and his lived experience in weight loss and the positive effects of FMT (faecal microbiota transplants) he joins me today and brings with him a whole lot of science and insight around gut health that I'd not heard before.
Joshua Williams is renowned for his groundbreaking research contributions in utilising natural supplements for GI system restoration, with the long-term goal of mitigating the impact on individuals diagnosed with autism. This pioneering work earning significant recognition within the scientific community.
Of course, I have a ball talking literal sh^t with Josh in this episode, however he shares some beneficial insights into the how and why behind optimising our gut health. If you're someone currently throwing $$ at prebiotics, probiotics and random health supplements hoping for the best, you're going to find this ep a worthwhile listen!

Holy moly, here's a tale for you...Imagine rummaging around in the quest for some sense of ancestorial belonging, to find out amidst your 50's that you're actually the long kept secret son of a Catholic priest and nun. A li'l hush-hush in human form, swept quietly under the rug for a few decades until a DNA test eventually unveiled the very unexpected truth.
There's enough that fascinates me in just speaking to Brendan Watkins about the experience of learning at 8 years old that his mum, dad and brother were not actually his mum, dad and brother... And there's enough to unpack around understanding the rippling repercussions of being wrapped up and tucked in the corner of a room for your first seven days of life, only to experience the warmth of a human embrace for the sake of feeding. And, of course, there's certainly more than enough to explore when we consider the emotional and psychological effects of a rejected bid for connection by your birth mother, when after decades you are able to identify and locate her.
In 2018 the last piece of Brendan's puzzle came to light, bringing with it perhaps more questions than answers. His book Tell No One bears his questions, anxieties and reflections arising from this hidden past, and with it the astounding story of scandal and church coercion which has been uncovered.

What happens when neuroscience, psychology and lived experience collide? Britt Frank, that's what. Britt is a licensed neuropsychotherapist, author, academic, featured writer and an award-winning adjunct instructor. So yeah, in 'Tiff language' she's kind of a big deal. Speaking with her today was like sitting down for a coffee with an extremely smart and articulate best mate. I loved it.
We talk about (as the title dictates) the science of stuck. How to process, understand, accept and grow from the experiences that other keep us otherwise bogged miserably in the mud. Britt has waded through the hot mess, as she puts it, with chemical/behavioral addictions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, OCD, trichotillomania, crazy-making relationships, and complex PTSD and she's rolled out the other side with a whole bunch of science-based strategies to share with us!

The goal? To question what you've always believed, understand yourself a little better, and turn those aha moments into actual change.
Because knowing better and doing better are two very different things.
And let's be honest... life's gonna keep throwing punches. We may as well learn how to roll with them.
