Today's episode is a co-shared episode from Mike Drohan's 'Doing Epic Stuff' podcast. I enjoyed it, I hope you do too :)
Welcome to the Doing Epic Stuff podcast with your host; Mike Drohan. Together we’ll explore the stories and journeys of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. “No one is going to wear or throw a punch for you. No one does it in a boxing ring and no one does it in life.” - Tiffanee Cook To underestimate Tiff would be a mistake. Under that ‘laid back Aussie’ demeanour and infectious giggle lies a weapon-of-a-human who has bested others in pursuit of ‘the sweet science’ otherwise known as boxing. Once a self-professed introvert with a ‘I could take it or leave it’ attitude toward fitness and her corporate career – when Tiff made a spur-of-the-moment decision to join a 12-week boxing challenge that required participants to fight in an actual professional event upon completion, she effectively switched off cruise control. Frenzied crowds. Bright Lights. Blood spilled. The whole 9 yards… Having experienced the thrill of the fight, boxing quickly became everything to Tiff. With a massive commitment to the sport came massive positive change in her life: The courage to launch her own multifaceted business; Tiffanee and co. (yes; a tongue in cheek play on the American luxury jewellery retailer of the same name..) The confidence to produce and host her own highly successful podcast: Roll With The Punches An ambassadorship with Code 9 Foundation: who provide support for professional first responders and phone operators living with PTSD and other debilitating mental health conditions. But not all change is considered ‘good’ in the world of boxing. Toughness and grit are each seen as assets and showing weakness of any nature; a potential threat not just to your career but your safety in the ring. Boxing, seemingly, had bestowed upon Tiff the gift of courage. Courage to confront past childhood trauma long since repressed, but once that emotional pandoras box was opened would she ever be the same fighter in the ring? Join Tiff and I as we explore active serendipity, the habits of an individual who is living her extraordinary and much more on this episode of the Doing Epic Stuff Podcast.

Today's episode covers all things mood and memory disorders from the neurological perspective.
My guest is Professor David Barton who specialises in general adult and geriatric psychiatry with a particular interest in neuropsychiatry, acquired brain injury and the association between depression and cardiovascular disease. I thought given how many episodes I have spoken with people who have experiences depression and mood disorders it would be a new perspective to speak to someone in the medical and neurological realm...
David and I discuss the varying degrees of mood disorders from lack of interest through to Major Depressive Disorder and Psychotic Depression and cover some of the treatment options available and how they have evolved, before moving onto memory disorders such as Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

Russell Jarrett is somewhat of an Aussie fitness guru. An Exercise Physiologist and host of the Australian Fitness Podcast, Russell has worked with the AFL, AIS, Cricket Australia, WNBL, elite golf and tennis athletes as well as programming thousands of individual and group training along the way... so yeah, he knows a right thing or two about all things fitness and mark my words, I picked his brain on the topic.
Grab a cuppa and take a seat though kids, we also talked about... well kind of everything! Launching podcasts, chasing dreams, helping strangers, punching faces and whatever other rabbit holes we cared to dart down.
Hope ya'll love listening to the conversation as much as I loved having it, I think I'll get old mate back on again soon :)

Today’s episode for me, was quite a monumental little event in itself.
Recorded LIVE in front of a 100 strong audience at the Melbourne EA Group’s Admin Professionals day it’s fair to say I felt like Ellen Degeneres 2.0 on that stage. With an incredibly worthy-of-the-stage guest Dr Amy Silver, (doctor of clinical psychology) Amy complete her doctorate on fear in chronic fatigue patients and has just release her book The Loudest Guest. So down I lay on the metaphorical couch and put her to work around what she does best.
We talk about our fear voices, where do they come from, what's their purpose and how can we build a relationship with them that better serves us when they start to speak up.
Big heartfelt thanks to Carmel Bond and the Melbourne EA Group for the opportunity to record live as part of their event. To Dino at Myles Audio Visual for making our voices heard. To Brihony Dawson for the unmatched stage presence and vivacious introduction... And to Holly Bailey for being the glue that held us all together.

It’s a fair understatement to say that I’m a little bit excited to be offering up a conversation with todays guest. Steven Kotler is arguably the leading expert in human peak performance worldwide.
Founder and Executive Director of the Flow Research Collective, Steven Kotler is an award-winning journalist and New York Times best selling author…. and I can wholeheartedly recommend reading his literature. If like me you’re fascinated by and wanting to put into practice science and biology around flow and peak performance this episode is a must listen.
After we banter all things action and combat sports for a bit, Steven shares some of the fundamentals around how we access flow and use it to optimise our performance. What are the attributes and attitudes of peak performers and how can we break down the steps to apply in our own sporting, business or personal endeavours.
This is one of my favourite episodes on a topic I cannot get enough of and I'm excited to think you'll all be better off for hearing it (as was I).
Enjoy!

Roll With The Punches is where we step into the ring and go toe to toe with the hard sh*t life throws our way.
Hosted by former boxing champ turned strength coach and speaker Tiff Cook, RWTP brings you big conversations with world-class guests about psychology, relationships, trauma, the brain, and the patterns that can make a bloody mess of our lives.
If you're curious about human behaviour, keen to challenge the stories you tell yourself, and want to understand why the hell you do what you do, you're in the right place. Tune in. Tiff's in your corner.
The goal? To question what you've always believed, understand yourself a little better, and turn those aha moments into actual change.
Because knowing better and doing better are two very different things.
And let's be honest... life's gonna keep throwing punches. We may as well learn how to roll with them.
