  • A look at the Seahawks salary cap after the initial wave of free agency
About two weeks into free agency, the Seahawks have been relatively active in making moves particularly on the offensive line. Field Gulls contributor John P. Gilbert joins the show as we wait to see what comes of the salary cap if Jadeveon Clowney re-signs with the Seahawks. Where do the Seahawks currently stand? Could they still manage to sign Clowney and another pass rusher considering the relatively small amount of cap space they seem to have. What moves could we expect to see Seattle make in the coming weeks if they need to free up salary cap space?
John talks about the departure of Germain Ifedi and how he was surprised at Ifedi's inability to land a deal in the range of George Fant and how he'll now be playing guard for the Chicago Bears instead of tackle. On Thursday, the NFL also announced that the 2020 draft will go on with the originally scheduled dates, but in a different format. The limitations on teams will be an interesting case study for future years on how they were able to scout and interact with players leading up to this year's draft.

  • Schneider upgrades big at CB for the Seahawks with a 5th round pick
The Seahawks have made their first trade since the beginning of the new league year adding cornerback Quinton Dunbar from Washington. It's a move that's likely to reduce the workload for Tre Flowers next year. Anthony Nachreiner and Brandan Schulze talk about the Seahawks through the first week of free agency and how Seattle has loaded up on the offensive line. The signing of Brandon Shell means that Germain Ifedi is not likely to return and the signing of Chance Warmack may have the biggest upside of all the new players on the offensive line. Later this week, we're planning to talk salary cap with John Gilbert of Field Gulls. Reach out on Twitter @SeaHawkersPod with any questions before Thursday evening.

  • Another top 10 pick from 2013 joins the Seahawks, Clowney remains unsigned
One week into free agency, the Seahawks continue to be active on the offensive line. The addition of Chance Warmack means they've now added four players to help compete along the line.  Of 10 players on the offensive and defensive line from the top half of 2013, the Seahawks have now signed seven of them. Dan Viens of the The Dan Cave Podcast joins the show to talk about the latest signing. Dan says with so few backup options remaining, Seattle should be near the point where a deadline should be set to sign Jadeveon Clowney. Looking at other areas of potential need for Seattle, Dan has some other ideas along the defensive line, at wide receiver and at running back that could help fill out the team's depth going into the 2020 season.

  • Seahawks add to offensive line at the start of free agency, Rams release Todd Gurley
In terms of big name signings, the Seahawks have been quiet in free agency to this point. Jadeveon Clowney remains a free agent and many of the biggest names along the defensive line have been signed. Mookie Alexander, managing editor at Field Gulls, joins the podcast to discuss the additions to the offensive line, what to expect with the return of Luke Wilson and the impact of Bruce Irvin returning to Seattle. The Los Angeles Rams made big news on Thursday with the release of running back Todd Gurley. Reports are already linking him to the Seahawks as a possible addition, but what about Jared Goff and where his contract stands with the Rams?

  • Jarran Reed stays with Seahawks, Cardinals trade for Hopkins, Monday news
The start of the NFL's new league year starts on Wednesday, and Monday was the first day that teams are allowed to interact with free agents. The biggest news for the Seahawks was the announcement that defensive tackle Jarran Reed would return to Seattle on a two-year contract. John Fraley, Field Gulls contributor and co-host of the Tasteful Profanity podcast, joins the show to recap Monday's free agency news.
Several restricted free agents were also offered tenders from the Seahawks, including tight end Jacob Hollister. The biggest departure of the day was the announcement that offensive lineman and tight end George Fant is expected to sign with the New York Jets for $30 million over three years. But, perhaps the biggest story of the day, was the Arizona Cardinals ability to get DeAndre Hopkins from the Houston Texans and send running back David Johnson along with an exchange of draft picks.

  • New CBA approved through 2030, notable NFL cuts ahead of free agency
The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the NFL players and owners passed this weekend by a narrow margin. Ross Bell of the First and Ten Podcast joins the show to talk about the biggest takeaways from the new CBA. Playoffs will be expanded to 14 teams in 2020 and the NFL could shift to a 17-game regular season as soon as 2021. The players percentage of revenue goes up and minimum salaries go up by a significant amount, but there are some things that the league's top players were strongly against. Ahead of the new league year, the Seahawks haven't made any cuts to reduce salary costs, but other teams have. We discuss who could be of significant interest for the Seahawks as NFL free agency looks to start on Wednesday.

  • Clowney's reported interest in the Giants contradicts his clear statement after the Seahawks season
With one week left to go before free agency begins and less than a week before teams can begin negotiating directly with players, Jadeveon Clowney has reportedly shown interest in the New York Giants. Considering the amount of cap room they have and his reported desire to get a market-setting contract, it makes sense in terms of those reports, but how does it compare to the actual comments that were reported directly from Clowney at the end of the Seahawks season. Nathan Santo of The Seahawks Nest Podcast joins the show to talk about where John Schneider and Pete Carroll could look to spend in free agency if Clowney leaves Seattle. Michael Bennett said this week that he'd like to finish his career as a member of the Seahawks. Does he having anything left in the tank and what would his presence mean for some of the younger players on the team? We talk about that along with the latest comp picks that the Seahawks have, which brings them to eight picks in the 2020 NFL Draft . . . for now.

  • Drafting offensive line: Who will be left when the Seahawks use their first pick
Both the offensive and defensive line for the Seahawks have the potential to look drastically different in 2020. Considering what the Seahawks tend to look for at the NFL Combine, it looks like the defensive line will be better addressed through the draft, but the offensive line is a spot Seattle could look to build on. For the players who flashed first-round potential, who is going to be left when it comes time for the Seahawks to pick? EJ Snyder, Senior Draft Analyst at Windy City Gridiron, helps kick off the show with a discussion about Clemson star Isaiah Simmons and where his fit might be in the NFL considering he excelled at so many different positions in college. Snyder says draft analysts are projecting more receivers to be taken in this draft than any other draft in history. Who are some of the players who the Seahawks should consider knowing that they lean toward players who demonstrate elite speed? Tune in to the episode for discussions around possible running backs, tight ends and defensive line.

  • Ngakoue trade makes no sense for Seahawks as alternative to paying Clowney
Recent reports by ESPN suggest that the Seahawks price range for Jadeveon Clowney may be significantly below what his value would be once free agency opens in a couple weeks. What other options do the Seahawks have? The Jaguars are expected to franchise tag Yannick Ngakoue, and the cost to trade for him along with the salary could even exceed the price for Clowney. Other options could include a mix of Bruce Irvin, Robert Quinn and Vic Beasley. Alistair Corp of Field Gulls joins the podcast to discuss whether Jarran Reed could be more likely to return if Clowney leaves town. Following the NFL Scouting Combine, Alistair released his Seahawks draft board and we take a look at a few of the names among the 130+ players Seattle is most likely to consider.

  • Tracking the Seahawks interest in NFL Combine prospects
Each year at the NFL Scouting Combine the teams have the opportunity to get a sense of a player's athletic traits as they run drills throughout the weekend, but maybe even more importantly they get a chance to talk to the players in formal interviews as well as informally during the week. One of the most publicized moments was last season when a shirtless D.K. came into his formal interview with the Seahawks. Corbin Smith was at the combine this year and had a chance to ask some of the players if they had met with Seattle and he ended up with a list of about a dozen names. He joins the show to discuss his thoughts on those players and some of his thoughts on the draft class overall.
