  • Carroll, Schneider send clear message on top need for Seahawks improvement
Interviews, measurements and medical exams are now underway at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. Seahawks general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll were among those available on Tuesday for media interviews. It's the first time we've heard from Coach Carroll since his press conference following the playoff loss. Bill Alvstad of the Seahawks Playbook Podcast joined the show to talk about the clear message that both Carroll and Schneider sent in their press conference. They both mentioned the desire to improve the pass rush in the offseason, and based on their history or identifying and addressing team needs, we can expect that they will focus on the defensive line leading up to the 2020 season.

  • Seattle Dragons CB Steve Williams talks about his NFL combine and XFL experience
Cornerback Steve Williams is one of the few players on the Seattle Dragons roster to be drafted by an NFL team prior to being drafted to Seattle’s XFL roster. He’s also one of a handful of players who had a chance to take part in the NFL combine. With the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine kicking off this week, and the Dragons heading into their fourth game of the season, Williams joined the Field Gulls Podcast to talk about his combine experience and what it’s been like to adjust from playing in the NFL, transitioning to the Alliance of American Football and now to the XFL.

  • NFL playoff format could change in 2020, a look at Panthers free agents
NFL owners have all agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement and now it's up to the players to decide to agree to the deal their leadership worked to negotiate with the owners. Part of the deal includes a change to the playoff format that could be instituted as soon as this season. Brian Beversluis of Cat Scratch Reader and the Keep Sounding Podcast joins the show to talk about those changes as well as the addition of Greg Olsen to the Seahawks roster.
Just how much does he believe Olsen has left in the tank based on his recent performances in Carolina? The Panthers also find themselves in a similar situation to the Seahawks with several free agents on the defensive line. We talk about who he would hate to see go, which teams may want to move to a contender, and some of the Panthers players at wide receiver and cornerback.

  • Greg Olsen, former Panthers tight end, to sign with the Seahawks
On Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported that former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen will sign a 1-year contract with the Seahawks work $5.5 million guaranteed, possibly $7 million total. To discuss what this means for the Seattle Seahawks and their offseason plan, Joe Fann of NBC Sports Northwest joins the podcast. The main hesitation of the signing is the fact that Olsen is 35, and while he's coming off of a season where he missed only two games, he only played in half the games the previous two seasons for the Panthers.
Reports are that Jadeveon Clowney wants to reset the market. Is he worth it? D.J. Humphries of the Arizona Cardinals got paid near the top of the tackle market despite dealing with injuries over the years. Joe talks about what that likely means for Germaine Ifedi heading into free agency. Plus, could Marshawn Lynch return to the Seahawks in 2020? We cover that along with Mike Holmgren's future Hall of Fame candidacy and how long he may have to wait to get the call.

  • Jadeveon Clowney should be the Seahawks top priority in free agency
One year ago, Houston Texans fans were wondering if a deal would be signed to allow Jadeveon Clowney to stay with the team under a long-term deal. On the final day of the franchise tag deadline, the reports were that Clowney and the Texans weren't even close to coming to terms on a contract. The Seahawks, however, don't have the luxury of using the franchise tag to extend the negotiation period.
Matt Weston of Battle Red Radio, the Houston Texans Community on SB Nation, joined the podcast to talk about what led up to the trade to the Seattle Seahawks. Matt points out that Clowney's strengths often don't show up in the box score, but that won't hinder his ability to get a big contract in the coming weeks.

  • Seahawks 2020 mock draft roundup
Mock draft season has begun. Although, mock draft season may be year round considering how we get mock drafts as soon as the actual draft is over. Regardless, we can start looking around at various media outlets to see react to who they have projected to the Seattle Seahawks. Among the players discussed through the first two rounds are DE Julian Okwara of Notre Dame, TE Adam Trautman of Dayton, and CB Bryce Hall of Virgina. All are projected to Seattle in SB Nation's most recent mock draft by Dan Kadar. Rob and Brandan also discuss free agency and discuss the idea of trading to improve the team's pass rush.
With the Seahawks need to add pass rushers, DE K'Lavon Chaisson of LSU and DE Terrell Lewis of Alabama are some popular picks projected to Seattle. One player who Rob suspected would go in the top 15 is currently being projected in the late first and early second round. We discuss why safety Grant Delpit could be available and what it would take for the Seahawks to make a move for him at the end of the first round.
We close out the show by talking quarterbacks in the draft. Could Tua fall to the end of the first round and help benefit the Seahawks for a team looking to trade up? How will Carson Palmer's advice to Joe Burrow impact the draft? Check out all that and more on this week's look at the NFL Draft.

  • The Seahawks salary cap and what they can afford to spend this offseason
For those who like to dig into the Seahawks salary cap number on the web, the $51 million amount of space they have can be deceiving. John P. Gilbert of Field Gulls joins the show to discuss why the amount John Schneider and Pete Carroll have available to spend  is closer to about 42 million for 2020. We also look at some players who Seattle could move on from the boost that number.
Germaine Ifedi and George Fant could both be on their way out this offseason and John explains that Seattle's front office has missed the mark when it comes to offensive line valuation. Jadeveon Clowney's ability to stop the run is likely to keep the Seahawks in a bidding war for their top pass rusher. In terms of their own free agents they have the opportunity to pay, John says Clowney gives Seattle the most value for the money.

  • Super Bowl reactions, Travis Kelce as a Seahawks trade target
Story lines are beginning to form following Sunday's game about how Kyle Shanahan choked away another victory on the highest stage. We're also hearing the celebration of the Chiefs ability to consistently come back from deficits. Dayna O’Gorman, editor and senior NFL writer for Our Turf Football, joins the show and talks about the celebrations in Kansas City after the win. Pro Football Talk’s Chris Simms suggested that there may be a problem with the Pete Carroll defense when it comes to the fourth quarter of big games.
