When we step in to save someone from their lessons, we interfere with their growth and accountability. Challenges teach resilience, wisdom, and self-awareness, but rescuing someone can rob them of those essential lessons and foster dependency. Intervening often depletes our own energy, creates unhealthy boundaries, and disrupts the natural order of consequences meant to guide them. True support means encouraging others to navigate their challenges while trusting the process. Love isn’t about shielding people from discomfort; it’s about empowering them to learn, grow, and take responsibility for their lives.

As we near the end of 2024, there's often an internal urge to do things differently, to let go of the old and embrace new beginnings. Many of us carry heaviness without even realizing it, and we sometimes burden others with our issues, expecting them to fix things for us. This message is for those who feel heavy or have heavy people around them.

Life is inherently heavy at times, but it's unfair to bleed on others and expect them to be content with our residue. Some burdens are meant to be released, not shared. Healing begins with acknowledgment and self-reliance, not by waiting for someone else to carry our weight. It's crucial to understand that letting go doesn't signify weakness—it's our pathway to freedom.

Finally, as we approach the new year, it's important to realize that the answers we seek lie within us. We need to sit with ourselves, find peace, and, if necessary, seek wise counsel from those who can genuinely support us. I know firsthand that changing this behavior is challenging and forces us to reflect on our fears—whether it’s fear of rejection or grappling with low self-esteem.

I recommend strategies like writing down your feelings and setting clear boundaries to begin overcoming these tendencies. It’s also crucial to manage guilt, affirm your self-worth, and limit exposure to negative influences for self-care. It’s equally important to celebrate your progress, no matter how small, in setting boundaries and prioritizing yourself. After all, saying yes to yourself and no to others sometimes is necessary for mental and emotional well-being.

Failing to set boundaries can take a real toll on your health, impacting your lifestyle and overall well-being. Prioritizing self-care isn’t just a buzzword; it’s essential for your happiness. Happiness should always come from within, and it's not your responsibility to make others happy.

People pleasers not only lack boundaries but also feel responsible for others' feelings. This leads to exhaustion and resentment because there's rarely any reciprocation. It's a constant cycle of prioritizing others at the expense of self, which can even strain relationships due to an inability to be authentic or communicate openly.

I host self-love coaching sessions for both men and women to address these deep-rooted issues. In these sessions, we focus on doing the work with intention to foster genuine self-love and personal growth. Remember, your worth isn’t tied to how useful or agreeable you are to others.
