In episode 35 of the Sober Vibes Podcast, I’m sharing my honest thoughts about Sober October (and Dry January) and why I personally don’t participate in them.
Before you think I’m a hater, let me explain. These month-long alcohol-free challenges can be a great starting point for awareness, but sobriety and recovery go so much deeper than 30 days without drinking. For many of us, it’s not about a reset, it’s about saving our lives.
I talk about what real recovery looks like, the emotional and mental layers beyond “just not drinking,” and why any day, not just a calendar month, is a good day to choose sobriety.
“When it comes to addiction for most, it’s a matter of life and death. So any day is a good day to get sober and save your life.” — me

Welcome back to Livin on the El-Ledge, the show within the Sober Vibes Podcast where my sister Kimberly Elledge and I get real about life, recovery, and everything in between.
In this episode, we’re reminding you that it’s OK if you’re not OK, especially during hard or uncertain times. Back in 2020, when the world felt upside down, we were both struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, and figuring out how to stay grounded without numbing out.
We open up about what helped us cope, how we leaned on each other (and humor!) to get through the rough days, and why emotional honesty is one of the most underrated tools in sobriety.
You don’t have to have it all together to stay sober. Some days are just about doing your best, and that’s enough.

In episode 33 of the Sober Vibes Podcast, I sit down with Mark Turnipseed, CEO of Integrity Endurance and founder of the powerful blog Trials to Triathlon, to talk about his journey of coming out in sobriety and overcoming addiction.
Mark shares how his path through heroin addiction, overdose, and deep personal struggle led him to a place of self-acceptance and purpose. We talk about what it means to live authentically in recovery, the healing power of community, and how owning your truth can be one of the most freeing parts of sobriety.
His story is raw, honest, and full of hope, a reminder that no matter what you’ve been through, you can rebuild your life and become stronger than ever.
Sobriety isn’t just about quitting alcohol or drugs; it’s about becoming who you really are.

In episode 32 of the Sober Vibes Podcast, I’m reflecting on my 38th birthday and what it’s taught me about change, growth, and getting uncomfortable, especially in sobriety.
Let’s be real: change is not comfortable, and that’s exactly why it’s powerful. When you choose an alcohol-free life, you’re choosing to face discomfort instead of numbing it. And that’s where true transformation happens.
I talk about what this season of growth feels like, how sobriety continues to challenge and reward me, and why getting uncomfortable is a necessary part of becoming who you’re meant to be. Because when you stick with the hard stuff, the messy middle, that’s when everything starts to shift.
Remember: discomfort doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong; it means you’re growing.

It’s Livin on the El-Ledge week! My sister Kimberly Elledge and I are back with another real and raw conversation, this time all about feelings.
The inspiration for this episode came after I was dismissed this past week, and it got us talking about how easily people can overlook or minimize our emotions. So today, we’re breaking down why your feelings are always valid, even if they don’t define reality.
We share personal stories, a few laughs (of course), and some practical ways to process your emotions in sobriety without getting stuck in them. Whether you’ve been dismissed, gaslit, or just told to “get over it,” this episode is here to remind you that you’re allowed to feel everything and still move forward.
Remember: feelings aren’t facts, but they’re messages. Listening to them is part of the healing.

Welcome back to Livin' on the El-Ledge, the sister series within the Sober Vibes Podcast!
In this episode, my sister Kimberly Elledge and I get real about something so many of us faced: emotional eating and the COVID-15. From late-night snacking to food guilt, we talk about how emotional eating often shows up in sobriety (and during stressful seasons like the pandemic).
We share our personal experiences, including one of us fully confessing to crushing an entire box of Oatmeal Creme Pies in one sitting and why it’s totally OK. Because just like with sobriety, food and body image healing is a process, not perfection.
This episode is about giving yourself grace, breaking the shame cycle, and remembering that emotional eating doesn’t define your worth. You’re human, and healing is messy — but it’s also beautiful.

In episode 27 of the Sober Vibes Podcast, I sit down with Brooke Buys, founder of BLND Health, to talk about one of the most personal and powerful parts of recovery relationships in sobriety.
We get into what happens to our friendships, family dynamics, and romantic connections when we remove alcohol from our lives. Brooke and I get real about the losses you may experience, the boundaries you’ll learn to set, and the deep, authentic relationships that can finally take root when you start living alcohol-free.
Brooke shares her story of choosing sobriety, creating BLND Health as an alternative to the one-size-fits-all wellness model, and helping others build emotional resilience through personalized care and connection.
Sobriety changes everything, including how we love, trust, and connect. But with that change comes freedom, clarity, and relationships that truly align with who you’re becoming.
