  • TWR 053: The Real Mindset Work Never Ends

    In this episode of The Wellness Revolution, Amber shares a personal story when she got caught up in old and limiting habits about dieting. It's interesting to realize that the inner work and the mindset work never end: even after many years of not being a victim to restrictive diets, people who work as coaches and as mentors still have the same feelings of shame and guilt as their clients sometimes. We're all a work in progress.

    When working towards a goal and doing our best to lose weight and feel healthier, there are a lot of lifestyle changes that we need to do. But a great part of this equation also comes from our heads. If we keep telling ourselves old stories, if we keep repeating old habits, and if we keep creating limiting beliefs about what we can do, no change will happen. Having a positive and fresh mindset is the key to actual change.

    Wellness Quote

    • "So much about the transformation, so much about the journey – not only for myself but what I see in clients – is the mindset piece of it." – Amber Shaw

    Key Highlights

    • Amber explains that so much about the transformation and the change that we are pursuing relies on mindset;
    • The real work never ends: we'll always need to keep reminding ourselves that old traps don't work anymore;
    • Old thought patterns will always be present in our heads, but it's important to replace them for new ones;
    • Amber tells the listeners a personal story about when she felt guilt after a weekend;
    • Mindset shifts are a constant work and a lifetime event.

    Michael also talks about how the worst experiences during childhood can actually teach us something and help us become more conscious and brave adults. • TWR 047: Weight Loss: 3 Common Pitfalls that Are Keeping You Stuck

    Going from one diet to another is really the way the majority of women try to lose weight. If nothing is happening within weeks, or even days, and no progress is seen in the mirror in the short term, something with this diet is wrong, right? Well, that's not actually how our bodies work and definitely not how diets work. It takes a little bit of time for adaptation, regulation, and all we need to have is patience.

    In this episode of The Wellness Revolution, Amber dives deep into this concept of patience and consistency, giving you the 3 most common pitfalls that are usually the reasons why women don't get weight loss results. For the most part, we think that it is all a matter of food, meal timing, or carbohydrates, but the mindset around weight loss is equally, if not more, important. Tune in!

    Wellness Quote

    • "So many times we think that weight loss really is about what we're putting on our plate and that is true. That is a piece of it. But ultimately it comes down to your ability to stay consistent with the big dial-movers." – Amber Shaw

    Key Highlights

    • Our impatience and the fact we don't stay consistent with any diet is the main reason of why we don't see results;
    • Amber talks about the 3 most common factors that keep women stuck in the same cycle of frustration with their fat loss goals.

  • TWR 046: Turning Pain into Power with David Powertalk

    More important than healing trauma, is not letting it define you. When we go through traumatic experiences in life, that very moment (or moments) can be seen as the beginning of a path full of fear, anxiety, and desperation or as an opportunity to learn, grow, and evolve as a person. And this idea can be applied into the everyday life: everyone has problems and tribulations, but we can always learn from it.

    In this episode of The Wellness Revolution, Amber welcomes David Solomon, a.k.a. David Powertalk, to talk about how to deal with traumas, how to create a new mindset to deal with traumas, and how to transform pain into power. David shares a great part of his past when he had to deal with difficult moments in his personal life but also how he was able to look at things differently, and treat those moments as gifts. Tune in!

    Wellness Quote

    • "I was able to turn that pain into power by not allowing it to break me." – David Solomon

    Key Highlights

    • David talks about the traumatic events he went through and the lessons he took from those situations;
    • Sometimes what we think is the worst thing that could have happened to us is actually a gift from a higher power;
    • David highlights the importance of taking action always and not just believing that we are capable of doing things;
    • Mistakes don't define us; What does is our capacity and willingness to learn from it.

    About David Solomon

    David is a Certified Motivational Speaker who helps other people turn pain into power by understating trauma and understanding the good that it can potentially cause. Having gone through difficult times himself, David motivates souls by always providing a powerful and encouraging talk.

  • TWR 044: Traumas, Triggers, and Taking Back Control with Gabby Bernstein

    Everyone has experienced trauma at some point in their lives. It could be a small, unconscious trauma or a big, impactful one, but either way it's there. What we do with that old memory, and how long it takes until we realize it's doing us no good, will depend on each person. People can go through their entire lives without noticing it, being aware of it, and healing it. Are you willing to unfold the memories?

    In this episode of The Wellness Revolution, Amber has the privilege to talk to Gabby Bernstein about her upcoming book, Happy Days. In this book, she discusses traumas, how they appear based on the triggers of our daily lives, and how to take back control of it all. Our health – not only mental health, but physical – can be affected by hidden wounds and not addressing it can be a problem. Gabby also talks about her writing process and how her own story influenced her purpose.

    Wellness Quote

    • "Ultimately, those experiences in our lives that were seemingly insignificant were tremendously impactful to our belief system, to how we perceive ourselves, to our nervous system, to the ways that we show up in relationships, to our attachment styles. So, every human has experienced trauma in some form and there's absolutely no way that you could be alive at this time and say that you haven't." – Gabby Bernstein

    • Trauma can be a deep source of feeling unworthy;
