Here are a few tips to help noticed by brands as an influencer:
#1 Come from a clear point of view
There’s millions of users of Instagram which means there’s a TON of content being posted and shared on a daily basis. If your goal is to get noticed by brands as an aspiring blogger, you have to figure out how you’re going to stand out.
Our biggest piece of advice is to clarify your point of view is to start with a mission statement.
Tip #2: You should already be a fan of the brand
Over the past few years, we’ve learned that brands want to work with you if you’re already wearing or using their products and services.
Brands love it when you’re already sharing what products you use or wear the most. It makes it easier for them reach out to you because they know your audience is used to seeing you talk about their brand and product.
If you’re truly a fan of the brand, you should also be:
· Tagging them on Instagram
· Using their branded hashtags
· And engaging on their account

Today we’re going to be sharing a few tips to help you write great Instagram captions. If you get frustrated writing captions or you’ve been feeling stuck and you aren’t sure what to write, this podcast episode is for you!
Tip #1: Use captions to build your relationship with your audience
One of the most important reasons why you shouldn’t take your captions for granted is because every caption is an opportunity to build a relationship with your audience.
A few Instagram caption ideas you could try on your account are:
INTRODUCTION TYPE CAPTIONS
In these types of posts, you share with your followers a little bit of who you are, what you do, where you live, etc.
2 TRUTHS AND A LIE
Personally, I remember playing 2 truths and a lie as an ice breaker in group events. This is also a great ice breaker between you and your audience. It gives your followers a chance to engage by trying to identify which is the lie.
ASKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS CAPTIONS
I’ve learned over the years that people genuinely enjoy sharing what they know or how they could help you. Every time I visit a new city, I always ask my audience what I see/eat/or should do in the city.
Tip #2: Share a teaser of your blog post or video
If you’ve taken the time to write a blog post, share a teaser of that blog post in your Instagram caption. Sharing a preview to your audience will level set their expectations.
Your audience will know what they’re going to see when they click the link in the bio to read your blog post. This is also one way to repurpose the content you’ve already written and save time!

If you’re a blogger or influencer trying to figure out how to work with brands, we’re sharing 5 tips that can help you on your next brand collaboration.
Tip #1 Ask Clarifying Questions
Before you jump into a brand collaboration, don’t be afraid to ask the brand clarifying questions. Sometimes brands share the required deliverables, but there’s other important information you need to know before you agree to the campaign.
Here are a few questions to ask brands:
· What is the timeline for this campaign?
· When are you expecting posts to be published?
· How does the brand intend to re-use the content I provide?
· Will the brand be re-using these images on social media, website, and other marketing materials?
Tip #2 Understand the Brands Goals
If the brand hasn’t shared their goals with you in the initial or first few emails, don’t be afraid to ask what their goals are.
Some brands are looking to improve brand affinity, some brands are looking to build awareness for new product line, some brands are trying to build brand recognition, and some brands just want sales.
Tip #3 Understand the Creative Brief
In some brand collaborations, brands will provide a creative brief. A creative brief is a document (sometimes one page and sometimes it’s 10 pages) that states how the product should be shot, in what lighting, and in what style the photos should be in.

Today we’re going to be talking about how to overcome feelings of discouragement about growing your blog/Instagram/ or other social media channels. If you’re feeling down about not growing on social media, this podcast episode is for you.
Tip #1: Stop Focusing on the Daily Numbers
You CAN’T let daily metrics get to you. You are worth more than your following number and your engagement rate. The number of likes and comments doesn’t determine your value – you are a WHOLE HUMAN BEING.
Tip #2: Outline Your Short Term & Long Term Goals
When you write down your short term and long term goals, you define your success criteria and what you’re working towards that month or year.
Tip #3: Create When You Feel Inspired – Don’t force yourself to create if you aren’t inspired
It’s way too difficult to try to write, take photos, and create content when you’re feeling down, discouraged, or frustrated.
If you’re feeling stuck but you want to create new content, take a step back and take a break. Do something fun, hang out with friends, take your mind off your tasks.
We share a few other tips to help you overcome feelings of discouragement in this episode!

This week we’re going to be sharing a few mistakes we’re seeing aspiring bloggers and influencers make. We’ve personally made some of these mistakes so we want you to be aware and learn from these mistakes so you can focus on growing and establishing your brand.
Mistake #1: Spending money on courses when they haven’t started a blog a yet
In 2020, there’s a massive amount of online courses you can take about how to pitch to brands or step up your Instagram game.
While all of these courses can be helpful to your journey, they may not be the right thing to focus on if you’re just getting started.
You probably could take a new course about Instagram or blogging every single week for a year – but until you actually launch your blog, you can’t apply any of this information you’ve learned.
If you want to start a blog in 2020, you must start a blog. If you want to start an Instagram account or TikTok, you must start an account on those platforms.
Mistake #2: Focus on making money when they haven’t made any content
Blogging can be a great side hustle or full time job that earns you money – but this does NOT happen overnight. This takes time. Just because you change over to an Instagram business account and launch your website doesn’t mean that people will start flocking to your website and driving up your page views and engagement.
If your ultimate goal is to make money with blogging, you have to create content, build an engaged audience, and understand how to work with brands.
We personally recommend building up at least 6 months’ worth of content before you start asking for money from brands.
Mistake #3: Getting caught up and frustrated in the follow/unfollow game
This is NOT a productive way to spend your time as a blogger and content creator.
What other people do with follow/unfollow does NOT affect your ability to create content or engaged with your audience. Instead of getting caught up in the F/UF game, you should focus on meaningful content to your audience. You should focus on increasing your blog traffic and figuring out ways to cross promote your blog on Pinterest and Twitter.

Today we have a guest on the show: Lindsay from @anchoredinelegance and www.anchoredinelegance.com. Lindsay is a news anchor turned content creator. Lindsay is going to be sharing a few tips on how to pitch and land media coverage for your brand and business.
So if you’re interested in gaining media exposure and what to learn what to include in your pitch, this podcast episode is for you.
Who is Lindsay?
Lindsay is as news anchor, turned content creator and higher education communicator. By day, she works for Purdue University – by night, she works on her blog (Anchoredinelegance.com) which is both her side hustle and passion project.
Lindsay was a news anchor and reporter for more than 10 years, working at TV stations across Wisconsin and in Michigan. She found her calling when she started anchoring morning shows.
We ask Lindsay:
What is the value in landing media coverage?
Lindsay shares with us:
1) Increased exposure/brand awareness: The morning news, the radio, and other media opportunities are platforms to introduce yourself and your brand to new audiences. If you can offer them something of value, appear credible and friendly, you can easily convert these viewers/readers into loyal followers.
2) You are building increased credibility as an expert: . If you can demonstrate an ability to speak with authority on a given topic (e.g. offer/link to examples of other successful media appearances), journalists are much more likely to accept your credentials and frame your comments as “expert”. Your audience will feel the same.
3) It helps your SEO – Backlinks help build your SEO game! Earned media, like a TV guest spot, can be huge for bumping up your Google search ranking.
What do you pitch to media outlets like the news or radio?
Lindsay answers:
You need to teach the audience something, help them solve a problem, share insight on current trends, or come at a topic from a unique angle. It should be timely and relevant to the season. It should also be clear and brief.
We also ask and answer:

Why is it important to repurpose content across your social media platforms?
If you’re working a full time or part time job, if you’re going to school, if you’re raising a family, and you’re trying to build your brand and business, you probably don’t have endless hours of the day to create content. Learning how to repurpose your content across your social media channels will help you save so much time!
Besides saving time, it’s also important to repurpose your content because if you’re on different platforms, you’ll reach different audiences. You should be sharing who you are, what you do, what value you provide across all your platforms.
Here are a few ways to repurpose your content across Instagram, your blog, and other social media platforms:
1. Reshare TikTok Videos on IG Stories
If you’re looking for ideas for IG story content, try reposting your TikTok videos to Instagram stories. TikTok makes it really easy to reshare your videos to IG stories.
Resharing TikTok videos can drive conversations in Instagram stories. It’s also a fun way to change up your IG story content.
2. Cut up blog posts to create Instagram captions and other social copy
If you’re writing a full blog post, you’re already writing your future Instagram captions. Don’t be afraid to take one tip or lesson you shared on your blog posts and edit that into an Instagram caption.
You’ll save yourself time and energy by repurposing your blog posts content into Instagram captions, tweets and Facebook posts.
3. Repost your Tweets on Instagram (in-feed)
If you’re looking to fill your feed with a mix of photos, videos, and visual content, I recommend reposing your Tweets to Instagram.
4. Pin TikTok Videos on Pinterest
TikTok is the newest platform we've both added to our social media channels. Videos can get pretty time intensive to film and edit so we want to make sure we repurpose the TikTok videos we create.
