  • #48: The simple and strongly suggested online strategy to see remarkable new patients results with Shauna Duty
It's episode 48! YEAH! I am so excited for you to listen to this episode (actually I am excited whenever you listen to any of The Dental Marketer's episodes) however in this episode my guest, Shauna, really breaks down for us the importance of blogging/ copy-writing on your website and not only that but she breaks down how Google and mainly all search engines work, how to work on the search engines side so it can favor your website, and how to do much more so you can actually see much more new patients coming through the door due to your website! I will be honest, after listening to this episode, I never knew exactly how much work goes into creating a blog and website that truly markets for you. You will hear how much work goes into constructing a remarkable blog post. It's not simple, it's not fast, but if done right it will produce AMAZING results.

Also we discuss what is one of the worst marketing techniques that some of you still may be doing. Marketing only starts to feel like a hassle whenever you feel like you do not know what you are doing. If you feel that way then that means the research has NOT been done, you don't have the perfect vision of what you customer looks like exactly, and you are using the wrong mediums to try and reach the potential customer. Now if you combine all three then you are totally not going to get the results you yearn for!

Shauna loves working with dentists and physicians! For years, she was the copy director at TNT Dental, a dental website and marketing company, then she ventured into a larger role in dental marketing as a partner at MDPM Consulting, a boutique-style dental marketing company that offered SEO and big-picture consulting.

Today, she founded at iDENTiwrite, and she is the copy director and lead editor to a team of wonderful dental copywriters and SEO experts who provide professional, keyword rich web copy, blogs, and quality content for dentists, and practice management companies. The company also build WordPress websites, and Shauna offers personalized marketing consulting for dentists and physicians.

  • #47: How Dr. Edna Buckle is growing her sensational practice as an oral surgeon.
Episode 47 guys! Thank you so much for tuning in and reading the show notes too! In this episode I talk with the wonderful Dr. Edna Buckle. This is a great interview because we get in the mind of someone who has worked in a corporate dental practice, multi-dental practice, and private dental practice. Listen to see the downsides and upsides of each one. Also Dr. Edna Buckle has just recently created her own private dental practice called Avie Oral Surgery Group. It's not even a year old but she is already seeing pretty great progress. Listen and follow along her journey to see what mistakes you can and should be avoiding when trying to attract new patients and what just may work remarkable wonders for your dental practice.

We also discuss a single piece of business advice that Dr. Edna Buckle shares, that I personally believe, is something everyone should not only hear but apply. This goes for everyone who has their own business, dental or non-dental! If you are a dental practice owner, I am sure by now you figured out that there is much more to do than just dental work on patients. You have to understand and deal with employees, marketing (online and offline), advertising, production, collections, office culture, and more! When starting off, and even now, we do NOT have all the answers to every problem that will occur. However, there is a solution to this and Dr. Edna Buckle shares that with you.

Dr. Edna Buckle was born in Ghana and grew up primarily in Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and completed her dental training at the world's first dental school, the University of Maryland where she received the prestigious Anesthesia Award for management of anxious patients.

After dental school, Dr. Buckle completed four years of Oral Surgery training at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC with emphasis on trauma and facial surgery, as well as extractions, pathology, sedation, and management of medically compromised patients. Dr. Buckle is written Board Certified and credentialed with Laurel Regional Hospital.

She opened up, not too long ago, Avie Oral Surgery Group; a practice whose priority is to serve their patient population in a respectful and calming environment.

  • #46: The HUGE difference between production & collections and how to obtain way more in collections with Dr. Jeffrey Rosenberg
In Episode 46 we discuss various methods and how important it is to continue to adapt and learn in order to not only grow as a person and dentist but to also grow your practice. You will see how Dr. Rosenberg has so much knowledge and that is because he was NOT afraid to dive into the unknown and learn a new technique and method to upgrade his skills and his practice.

Dr. Rosenberg also discusses how learning a patients background is crucial. Knowing a patient's birthday is not what I mean, every single email subscriber that your patient is signed up for knows their birthday as well. You, the dentist, really have to know the dentist financial situations, know their family, the patient's likes and dislikes, recent medical procedures, and even their favorite hobbies. Really know your patients and that not only creates loyalty but it creates a much easier treatment acceptance environment.

Dr. Jeffrey Rosenberg is considered an expert in the field of cosmetic and restorative dentistry by both patients and professional colleagues.  He has published numerous articles in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, and the use of computer imaging to assist in dental diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Rosenberg has invented several dental devices and holds 8 patents in the dental field including the world’s first, non-invasive, full arch periodontal measuring device – Perio Alerttm.  He also maintains a private practice in Center City, Philadelphia, PA.

  • #45: How to deal with last-minute cancellations and no-shows with Debbie Seidel-Bittke
In episode 45 Debbie really dives into how a practice can increase their production and enhance your dental practices' culture. There are so many components in a dental office and becuase of this each component should have a specific system in play to where that component is making it's own production or bringing some sort of remarkable value to the dental practice as a whole. For example, Hygiene is an essential component, does your hygienist know what to say when trying to present a case of Invisalign? Or does your front office know what to say to someone who just cancelled at the very last minute? All of these components will funtcion much much MUCH better with proper systems in place and which include scripts and tactics.

We also get to hear exactly what we need to say to those pesky patients who just don't value the dentist time. You know the patients I'm talking about. "The late ones", the "no-shows", the "last-minute reschedulers", the "last minute cancellations"; Debbie tells us just exactly how we need to feel and what exactly to say to these types of patients.

Debbie Seidel-Bittke, is a dental consultant, coach, speaker and author. She is also

CEO of Dental Hygiene Solutions, powered by Dental Practice Solutions. Debbie is a world-

class leader in creating profitable hygiene departments. She is well-known as a former

clinical assistant professor at USC in Los Angeles and a former hygiene department program

director. Dentistry Today recognizes Debbie as a Leader in Dental Consulting.

  • #44: The small things your front office can do to get you BIG results with Karina Acosta
In episode 44 I chat with someone who started in the dental industry not too long ago but has really made an impact in the dental offices she works with. Here we talk about just how important having a remarkable user experience on your website plays a major role in attracting new patients. Remember you don't just want your website to have your logo, address, and number; you want your website to be active on the internet. Just how a ground marketer is active in the community attracting new patients, your website should be doing the same on social media, search engines, and all over the internet in your local area.

Karina also mentions just how they plan out their morning huddles to get optimal results throughout their day. Remember that our existing patients have lives too and are budgeting for other things besides dentistry, so having a morning huddle AND a daily recap to see how everyone in the office can play a role in teaching, showing, and eventually having the existing patient purchasing immediate treatment is crucial for better overall production.

Karina Acosta is an Office Manager for a dental practice in Southern California, Choice Family Dentistry. She has grown rapidly to understand and implement dental marketing strategies into the every day treatment plans and front office procedures. She has helped transform and turn around the dental practice she is currently in and is now in demand to do the same for other dental practices.

  • #43: What’s the next wave in dentistry for the public with Daniel O’Rourke
In this episode we share the viewpoint of a bioesthetic dental technologist. Daniel O'Rourke mentions what he believes may be the next wave that dentist will see more of a demand from the public... occlusion. If so, you better start your marketing strategies RIGHT NOW and make sure its CTA is revolved around occlusion. If not, STILL, why wouldn't you want more patients coming in for occlusion treatment and more?

We also discuss how the main problem for dentists may not be the fact that they can NOT attract the right quality new patient; the problem may be that the dentist is not looking hard enough into their ALREADY existing patient base and see that their patients need much more major work done. Sometimes we can get so caught up in attracting new patients that we forget about how much our existing patients need us without them realizing it yet. So maybe change yup your re-call scripts, send innovative marketing materials to these existing patients, or create a whole new marketing strategy for your re-calls and un-scheduled pending treatment. Be consistent with it.

Mr. O’Rourke has spent the past 35 years of his career devoting himself to the development of dental technology, and continues to be an advocate for higher quality dentistry for the betterment of the patient.

He has studied with some of the finest dental technologists and dentists in the world at institutions such as The Schuster Center for Professional Development, The Dawson Center and the Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry.

As one of only 11 Bioesthetic Dental Technologists in the World, Mr. O’Rourke has published numerous articles and has given lectures across the country, including a series at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

  • #42: How ground marketing provides easy and proven results with Dr. Bill Williams
In Episode 42 of The Dental Marketer podcast I talk with one of the pioneers of dental ground marketing. Now you all know I am a ground marketer and it’s something I strongly preach but I want you all to see just exactly how this has worked for Dr. Williams. We dive into “guerrilla marketing”. Where we discuss ways that are the most effective to market your dental practice with the lowest cost points possible. Dr. Williams discusses something called “overlapping curves”, this is very important because this should be done in every marketing plan you implement. Also he gives you his marketing plan as well!

We look into the importance of knowing who you are marketing to. I can NOT stress enough that knowing your exact target market is crucial for marketing. You build a campaign around them, if you don’t know your exact avatar (how your ideal patient looks and acts) then your marketing will be off.

Dr. Williams is the founder of Suwanee Dental Care and Solstice Dental Advisors.

He is The Atlanta cosmetic dentist with over 35 years experience in Implant and Reconstructive dentistry, Orthodontics and TMJ. He has the experience and knowledge to handle the most complex cases.

Dr. Bill Williams is also your coach to become a more productive dentist. He helps practices solve problems and grow through (1) Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Service and Implementation.

He has lead mission teams through Africa and Central America.

  • #41: How can knowing your “why” as a dentist provide tremendous success with Debbie Z.

Tune into episode 41 to hear so many tactics that Debbie shares with you and why each tactic and script works or how you can make it work. However, before you jump into wanting hundreds of new patients and a great marketing strategy you need to figure out or know your why. Why do you do what you do for each of your patients? Not only is this important to figure out so you can mention it to your exisiting patient, but more than likely this will be your niche. You really have to be specific in figuring out your "why". Remember marketing is story-telling, and if the reasons you do things is to pay the bills but you tell your staff and your patients a lie like "I do this because I care about your oral health",,, it'll definitely show.

We also discuss some scripts you can say and some tactics you can use to make your video marketing and social media marketing ten times better and much more relatable to your community. Debbie also mentions to us what to do or say if a patient does not want to do oral cancer screenings and how we can increase this procedure in our dental practice.

Debbie is a tireless Pioneer Health Crusader, Educator & Author dedicated to Total Health Initiatives and Making Oral Cancer History. This passion drove Debbie to form the NationalCancerNetwork.org a 501(C)(3) whose vision is to raise awareness of prevention, progress, screening and referrals for a world free of a cancer. With over 27 years in the health industry and working with a variety of clients Debbie’s laser focus and ability to get to the cause holding you back guiding them to achieve remarkable success, my mission and commitment to you is to ignite the hero within you!

  • #40: How to find new patients who are searching for specific treatment that you provide with Patrick Killen

Thank you for tuning into episode 40 of The Dental Marketer podcast. In this episode we discuss a fantastic way to attract new patients… patients who actually want to come in as soon as possible and see the dentist! A very important fact and guarantee we need to remember is that there is no one way that everyone looks for information. Millions and billions of people look up information in a multitude of ways and methods.

Let me give you an example, so if someone has a wisdom tooth pain or they want to see how they can better their smile. The person interested in  this will type into Google “my wisdom tooth hurts, what can I do to minimize pain” or “how can I make my smile whiter?” and then loads of information will show up, then the person will continue down this information funnel until they find what they are looking for. So the person doing the search looks into this information and then towards the end of the funnel they see that your dental practice is perfect for making their teeth whiter or extracting their wisdom tooth. At this point the person looking at the information is ready to come in to your dental practice for a specific procedure.

So the question is, how can you (or your dental practice) show up in that information?

I had the privilege of interviewing Patrick Killen who is the head of the Sales and Development at DOCTOR.COM. Patrick Killen has been with the company since it started. He has many years of experience in digital marketing, and healthcare, Patrick is a good source for dentists because that's been his primary focus over the years for managing practices' online reps.

There are 1.66 billion mobile active users for September 2016
On average, the Like and Share Buttons are viewed across almost 10 million websites daily.
Five new profiles are created every second.
Average time spent per visit is 20 minutes.
At 1.79 billion, Facebook has more monthly active users than WhatsApp (500 million), Twitter (284 million) and Instagram (200 million)—combined.

These days it's no secret that every business needs to have a Facebook presence...

    but...

the way that you run your Facebook can mean the difference between a business that thrives and one that struggles to compete against savvier competition...

  • #39: How Dr. Allison White finds the exact new patients her dental practices’ want.
In Episode 39 we break down how Dr. Allison White not only is a fantastic dentist for two thriving dental practices, but she also does the marketing for these dental practices. One of the most important things she mentions that we absolutely need to understand is finding your niche! No I don’t mean “ok… I am a dentist… I work on teeth sooooo my niche is people who have teeth”.
You need to find your target market. This is important because understanding the type of patient you want is EVERYTHING! A lot of the times we want absolutely any patient to come to our office and expect the new patient to almost immediately appreciate the treatment and care we provide. However, in order to market your dental practice you have to know and understand your dental practice! What type of dental practice do you want to be? What services do you NOT want to do or just NOT want to do. Choose the work that you love to do and have a passion for and the marketing becomes easier and more creative. This in return helps you to narrow down your niche and market to your target market.
We also share the number one piece of marketing advice that will LITERALLY immediately help your dental practice; I recommend you do it as soon as you finish listening to this episode!
Dr. White is known in her community for providing an exceptional patient experience. Her focus is on improving her community’s overall well-being by providing preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental care. She is an experienced Preferred Provider for Invisalign and has strong connections with her patients. She works at Newton Centre Dental in Boston and also in Killingly, Connecticut with Dr. Kimbal Sheffield. Dr. White has been very involved with marketing and social media in both offices and I am very honored to have her on my show today to hear her professional opinions on providing gold standard care to patients and the ways she markets herself and her offices.
