Setting Myself a Weight Loss Challenge | The Emma Guns Show

📝 I have a hankering to lose a little weight. Not just because summer is around the corner but because after two years of maintaining a 40lb weight loss, I fancy another challenge. 

Just to be clear, I've yo-yo dieted for the majority of my adult life and maintaining this weight loss is something I'm really proud of. The real 'win' though was overcoming something close to binge eating disorder (BED) that involved a highly emotional and irrational response to fake hunger cues. As a result, I was on a 30-year rollercoaster of either restricting, dieting and exercising excessively or eating to excess. Finding the 'happy' medium somewhere between the two has not been easy and though I'm happy with how I look now, I'd like to challenge myself to get even leaner and even stronger.

📝 I haven't discussed biohacking in any great detail on the podcast for about five years. Back then it felt like something on the tip of the wellness industries tongue and something being embraced by people who wanted to have agency over how they felt. Nowadays, it feels as though biohacking has gone viral with our foods, supplements and gym choices all subtly re-branded to imply a easier route to health and wellness requiring far less effort - just a small little bio-hack here and there.

So, this is what a relapse feels like? | The Emma Guns Show

📝 I've spoken at length about my body image, weight loss and recovery from binge eating disorder, so I suppose it's only right that I share what it felt like to relapse.

Recovery isn't linear, but this 'blip' was one that I couldn't fend off with my usual tactics but I did manage to navigate it differently from when I was in the gripes of binge eating disorder.

I hope sharing this makes someone else feel a little bit better or, at least, a little less alone.

📝 I spent a lot of time trying to get my head around Notion, but what I've realised is that perhaps I was trying to turn myself into someone who I fundamentally I am not. Perhaps a little organised chaos is fine?
