Hey ADHDer!
Today's episode is a special once because today's guest is my MOM! If you've ever wanted to hear about what ADHD signs there were in my childhood here's your chance to hear a few!! On this episode we discuss: my mom's journey with her own potential ADHD; how she's navigated having two kids getting a later in life ADHD diagnosis; and how learning about ADHD has made her a more understanding teacher.
Kim's Bio:
A mother of three grown children and a nana to five grandkids. I am just learning about the neurodivergent world. Two of my children and one of my grandkids have been diagnosed with ADHD. I am learning that I might have the same diagnoses. I do have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and PSTD. I am researching and of course following some different members of the ADHD community while I am waiting to get a diagnosis. I have started making some changes in my daily routine to help some of the effects of ADHD. It has helped my anxiety quite a bit.

Hey ADHDer!
On this episode we are chatting with a listener just like you! Alex Briault discusses her recent ADHD diagnosis, the process of getting her diagnosis in Canada and how cycling has helped her learn more about her own brain and cultivate a new sense of accomplishment in life!
Alex's Bio:
I am a 32 year old Office Manager at a healthcare clinic near Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've been in this field for 8 years and I can't imagine working in another field. I have a BA in geography and am a certified personal trainer and running coach. I've been married for nearly 9 years and have two cats, Moo and Flynn. I was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year and it completely flipped how I see and understand myself.
After running for years, I switched to cycling last year and have been enjoying being a beginner at something new and working on new skills and completely abandoning my comfort zone. I think one of the best things about cycling is that there are so many parts to it so there's always something interesting happening from new bike skills (I joined a cycling club this year too!) to bike maintenance to riding new areas and exploring!
I also knit, bake, build LEGO sets, actually like building IKEA furniture, and love me a good spreadsheet.

Hey ADHDer!
SURPRISE!!! HERE's AN EXTRA EPISODE FOR YOU THIS WEEK!
If you've ever struggled with being an activist (aka volunteering and making social change happen) this episode is for you! In this episode you will hear about what might be holding you back from doing activism work, what ADHD traits are fantastic for this type of work, and tips to help you get started and keep on going!
Here are the tips to help you get started/keep going:
1) Make sure you are registered to vote... and then actually vote!
2) Take inventory on what you are passionate about and do activism work in those areas.
3) Start small (meaning don't just jump in with all your energy and burn out quickly): share things on social media; research the topic; donate to non-profits doing the work, etc.
4) Schedule in time to do activism work.
5) Enlist others to help alongside you (aka body-doubling).
6) Be aware of what triggers your RSD and find work arounds.
7) Advocate with your $ and where you spend it!

Cody not only shares his mental health story, but gives tangible ways you can be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community throughout the entire year instead of just during the month of June.
Trigger Warning: Suicide
