Kelvin Kiptum, the current marathon world record holder, unfortunately passed away on Sunday 11th February in a car accident alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana.
Kelvin had a short but exciting career in marathon running, where he debuted with the fastest marathon debut of all time. He ran the fastest marathon in history at Chicago and was on track to being the first person to run under 2 hours for the marthon in a certified race.
As the news broke we wanted to dedicate an episode to his legacy and show the impact he's had on the running world in such a small space of time.
RIP Kelvin and Gervais.
In this weeks episode we catch you up on where in Thailand we currently are and our recent visit to Kuala Lumpur parkrun in Malayasia.
We then go onto this weeks topic - easy running, which isn't always so easy to master.
We talk about what easy running actually is, how to measure easy runs based on heart rate zones and RPE scales and the importance of the 80/20 rule in running easy.

At the end of 2023 we were joined by our resident physio Rudi Chaplin from The Treatment Lab. Rudi who is a sports rehabilitator and massage therapist is also a keen runner himself. He works with many runners within the Milton Keynes area to keep them on top of their running game and back on the road to recovery if they've picked up any niggles or injuries.
Rudi came onto one of our communities coaches hour to discuss top recovery tips and injury prevention whilst training for running events, especially the marathon distance. Our members also got the opportunity to ask Rudi questions in relation to their training.
You can find more information about The Treatment lab here.

In this weeks episode of the podcast we invited Running Hub coached client Tim O'Sullivan onto the podcast to talk about his huge successes with his running journey in 2023.
After a tough period of time, in the summer of 2023, Tim started back training again and focused on all aspects including training, strength, cross training and nutrition.
By the end of the year he'd achieved 10k and half marathon PBs and built his confidence back up to an all time high.
Obviously the journey wasn't easy, but we want to help inspire anyone that may be on their own journey back from injury or a plateau.
We wish Tim all the success with his goals for 2024!
