How much do you value and prioritise play? As a hula hooper, a circus performer and a Chinese medicine doctor, Kiera Blaney @heykiera_ gets the value of PLAY!
We are talking play, with yourself and with life, because as Kiera would say, "Play IS medicine"!
Kiera has created a life and career of fun and play. It wasn’t as easy as a walk in the park, though the spark for her career literally started with an inspirational walk in the park.
What a journey Kiera has made, going from lost in her “Monkey Mind”, self hating and disconnected from her body, to embodied, loving her body, herself (more and more) and her life; showing people the possibility of fun, happiness and joy through PLAY!
We explore the magic of the many forms of play, movement and embodiment practises, to help people find felt sense of safety and parasympathetic rest, so that they can do the deeper healing.
You know what it feels like, don't you? Letting go of time when you play, entering that timeless flow state.
What if we all made more space to break out of that "busy trap", to play and reflect on how our body responds? I wonder what would happen if we spent more time being in our body, perhaps more powerful realisations?
As we reflect on how experience leads to wisdom, Kiera boldly shares vulnerably about the sexual experiences she has been able to reflect on and learn from, including: beliefs about how she ‘had to’ give her body to others in a particular way; energetic boundaries intended to stop abuse; losing herself and finding herself again! She can see how taking the calculated risk to experience and process emotions of perceived traumatic experiences have created the fun loving, powerful woman she is today!
Kiera asks us all to consider, “What could life be like? How could it be different? How can you take that risk, in a safe way?” A beautiful reminder that everything is a risk, which you can choose to do safely and with support, in your own way.
This podcast episode shares of power abuse within sexual contexts and how we have each come to healing realisations. We invite you to consider too, the power of choosing to take full responsibility for your healing journey.
What if you chose to take your power back, knowing it wasn’t okay then and it all gets to be okay NOW?
Kiera invites a deep discussion into the ways unhealed trauma plays out in the present and limits our experience of life, and how everyone has the opportunity to find peace with all parts of themselves, allowing them to shine their light too.
She wraps up the episode sharing what she’s up to on the 88 Temple Pilgrimage (The Shikoku), raising money for mental health awareness through https://healedtribe.org.au/
This, and many tips for healing through play, are shared in this inspirational episode! Follow her journey at @heykiera_ and @hulahoopbrisbane and check out how to make a donation to support her journey @heal.edtribe
