Today, I’m joined by my mentor and dear friend Kate Appleton to talk about grief, death, and the illusion of separation. We explore what it means to hold space for loss in a culture that rushes past it, and how connecting with the mystery of what’s beyond the veil can bring us closer to love, not further away. If you’re navigating any kind of loss, or simply craving a gentler, more connected way to think about life and death, I hope this conversation brings you comfort and clarity.
About Kate:
Kate Appleton, LPC, SEP, TEB is a seasoned psychotherapist, somatic coach, and creative integration specialist with over 40 years of experience. She integrates a diverse array of modalities—including Somatic Experiencing®, Transforming Touch®, Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and archetypal psychology—to support individuals and practitioners in navigating complex trauma and fostering embodied healing. Kate is a contributing author to guidelines on combining SE and SSP in clinical practice and co-founded the Somatic Mentorship Program with her son, Will Rezin, to bridge the gap between coaching and psychotherapy through somatic principles. Her work emphasizes the intersection of early developmental patterns, attachment, sensory integration, and spiritual emergence, guiding clients toward greater connection, resilience, and self-awareness.
