This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with my friend and client Alex Long, a registered dietitian who is passionate about helping women heal their relationship with food and their bodies. In this episode, Alex opens up so vulnerably about her own journey through an eating disorder, PCOS, and autoimmune issues, and how she's used the power of food and somatic healing to get her health back on track. We dive deep into the role of attachment theory and early imprints when it comes to our relationship with nourishment, and Alex shares some super practical tips for moving away from diet culture and learning to trust your intuition around food. Whether you struggle with disordered eating or just want to have a healthier, more joyful relationship with what you put in your body, I know you're going to get so much value from this conversation.
About Alex:
Alex is a Registered Dietitian who is passionate about helping women heal their relationship with food and their bodies so that they can step into their new identity as the healthiest, happiest version of them and live the vibrant and fulfilling life that they were always meant to live. Alex has worked her whole life at trying to be thinnest/fittest/smartest person, which only spiraled her into an eating disorder, PCOS and an autoimmune disease. Now, after recovering from her ED, she's using the power of food and somatic healing to regulate her cycle, heal her gut and show people that it is safe to be your loudest, most authentic self, and that we are not meant to fit into a box that society wants us to fit in.

This week, I'm talking about the importance of rest and how it is a birthright, not something to be earned. This is my journey overcoming my productivity addiction and learning to embrace rest. I hope, after listening to this episode, you will have gained a deeper understanding of the value of rest and strategies to incorporate more rest into your life.

My guest today is Ashlee Livingstone, a friend and colleague of mine for the past year. In this episode, she shares about her own personal journey with shame - around divorce, blowing up her life several times (in her own words), and most of all, around infertility. Some of the most powerful tools she has used to process and dissolve her shame revolve around releasing her conscious mind and allowing her unconscious mind to take over to do the work. And, in particular, one of those tools is breathwork. As a breathwork leader in my community, I'm thrilled to share Ashlee's insights and gifts with you on the podcast today.
About Ashlee:
Ashlee Livingstone is a Personal Growth Coach and Somatic Breathwork Facilitator who holds space for people who hold a lot of space for others. Working with leaders, parents and community builders Ashlee helps them regulate their nervous system, better manage their stress and relationships and learn to not only create space for themselves but move through their challenges so they can get back to supporting their clients, team and family. She works with people who cannot afford to stay stuck in the sh*t because they have lives to impact. Ashlee focuses on stress management, nervous system regulation, emotional intelligence, limiting beliefs and self doubt. Ashlee knows from experience you cannot give from an empty cup and is on a mission to help her clients continue to make an impact without burning out or sacrificing their wellbeing in the process. Ashlee is a proud mom, wife, co-parent, and entrepreneur who has released the pressure of doing it all and embraces being present, intentional, and healthy.

This week, my guest is Linda Robertson. Linda Robertson wrote a short essay that went viral in 2013, Just Because He Breathes, about her own culpability in the death of her gay son Ryan.
Since his death, she has invested years of emotional work to learn from her own mistakes, to figure out how to make meaning from what happened and, most importantly, to repair with herself. After being asked to share her “cautionary tale” at the final conference of Exodus International (the largest “ex-gay” organization in the U.S.), she and her husband were asked to share their story at several organizations for LGBTQ people of faith, as well as churches working to become safer for the queer people in their congregation. She is currently a member of the QChristian Fellowship Board of Directors and leads their Parent Team, as well as a year-round, drop-in virtual group for Christian parents of LGBTQ kids. She has had the great honor of listening to the stories of countless queer kids from Christian homes, who, like her own son, desperately need their parents to set aside their theology and simply focus on listening to, learning from, and reflecting the truly unconditional Love of the Divine to their children.
Linda and her husband of 40 years, Robbie, split their time between Seattle and San Diego – in order to spend time with their beloved five adult children and an utterly delightful grandson. Linda is a nerd who loves books, working out, brain science, child psychology (shout out to Dr. Becky Kennedy and Good Inside), popcorn, going to therapy, and, most of all, connecting deeply with other humans.

I've been reading recently - and for me, that's never been my biggest hobby. I've recently picked up The Kite Runner for the first time since high school and The Body Keeps the Score for the first time in over a year. You might be wondering what these books have in common, but really, there is so much aligned in these two books about how important it is to move our trauma through our bodies. In this episode, I'm talking about negativity bias, proprioception, vulnerability, and the little moments of gold that are part of the human experience.

My guest today is Katherine Smailis, Holistic Therapist OTR/L and consultant for high-performing professionals and business owners. When I think of Katherine, I think of her as an expert about intimacy. She is trained in Western medicine, but left the hospital system to pursue more holistic healing methodology that infuses science and spirituality, specializing in emotional intelligence and the nervous system. We're chatting about intimacy blocks in marriage: where they come from, how to approach them, and how to process and release the trauma behind these blocks. Join us for an in-depth conversation about managing life transitions, using somatic practices for emotional healing, and building self-awareness and body intelligence.
