Excited to have my buddy, Ron White, join us for some deep dives into his 37 year journey - and counting - as a stand-up comic. A lot has changed societally since entering the 2000s so we got to chat how comedy has adapted without suppressing its nature of finding the line and stepping over it.
Ron has been performing at Austin's very own Comedy Mothership, brought to life by Joe Rogan this year, and this opportunity to partner with Joe quite literally kept Ron from retiring. From the green room hangs, the growth and support of young comics, and the overall energy convinced him to fire it all back up. Not to mention opening for Theo Von and being able to witness and play a major role in the rise of many great modern day comics. All of which we cover in our conversation!
Some things we dive into...
➝ How he knew comedy was a career worth pursuing
➝ His experience with imposter syndrome as he began his journey in comedy
➝ The importance of putting in the work for passions and how short cuts don't sustain us
➝ What a run of show at the Comedy Mothership looks like
➝ The lost art of wanting those around us to win, especially those in the same field
➝ An LA Times article that nearly ruined his career
➝ And more!
