Melissa Lyon West personifies strength and resilience like no other. From a young age, she was entangled in a cult, dominated by her father's controlling influence. Up until she turned thirty, every aspect of Melissa's life was dictated by strict rules. There was no room for personal choice in this cloistered environment where men held all the power, and women were relegated to a subservient role. However, a series of events gradually chipped away at the foundation of her beliefs, leading Melissa to question the life she had been forced to lead. The turning point came when she boldly declared, "I'm not going to lie anymore." That single decision marked the beginning of her quest for truth, the catalyst for her healing journey. With unwavering determination, Melissa embarked on a path to freedom, breaking free from the shackles of the cult's control. Every step she took brought her closer to reclaiming her autonomy, as she refused to be bound by oppressive rules any longer. Now, our story finds Melissa at a pivotal moment in her life. Having endured a lifetime of conformity, she stands firm in her decision to sever ties with the cult once and for all. No longer willing to be part of something that stifles her spirit, Melissa takes a courageous stand and embraces her newfound freedom.

In this quick chat episode we are looking at how trauma is passed down your family line. Whatever has happened to your parents, your grandparents and beyond can have a huge impact on your life simply as a result of what is shared within that family line. Systemic Theory looks at the family system as a whole and how this affects you today. My guest is Johanna Lynn, and she works in the field of epigenetics. Johanna explains that whilst we might be born with trauma from past generations, it doesn’t belong to us.

From her earliest memories Victoria felt worthless. Her brothers and sisters were significantly older and the messages she got growing up were ‘we don’t want you’. At school Victoria was bullied and rejected. Such was her lack of self worth, Victoria never looked in the mirror because she didn’t like what she saw. As an adult, Victoria believed that if she achieved all the award and accolades, she was worthy, but there were years of depression and finally, Victoria found herself sitting on the end of her bed with a bottle of pills. How did Victoria turn her life around? This is Victoria’s journey from hopelessness to living a full and incredible life. Victoria is now The Heart Healer and she is helping women find their self worth.
