  • The Glucose Goddess' Guide to Understanding Blood Sugar

Our special guest this week is Jessie Inchauspé (aka the Glucose Goddess)! Shira and Jessie discuss the importance of glucose and how glucose spikes can cause problems in the body. Jessie also talks about her new book, The Glucose Goddess Method, which is a four-week plan that helps incorporate four glucose hacks into one's life. We learn about glucose in a way that emphasizes the importance of balancing blood sugar in a way that is not restricted, but rather incorporates science-based hacks, such as combining carbs with protein, fat, or fiber, and starting meals with vegetables to prevent glucose spikes. Have you ever noticed a glucose spike after eating a certain thing? Share what that feels like, or tell us your own glucose-spike-avoiding hacks. • Shit I’m Loving: a stunning salmon recipe, re-subscribing, and being okay with disappointing others

In this episode, Shira shares some of the things she's been loving lately. She starts off by discussing her latest cooking experiment, a slow-roasted salmon recipe from her friend, Chef Thea. Shira shares the details of the recipe and encourages listeners to give it a try.

Next, Shira reflects on a conversation she had with a client about the idea of disappointing others in order to not disappoint oneself. She shares her thoughts on how this concept can apply to various areas of life, such as choosing what to eat when dining out.

Shira also gives a shout-out to a fashion editor-turned-freelancer, Laurel Pantin, and her hyper-curated newsletter, Earl Earl. Shira recommends the newsletter as high-quality content that she looks forward to receiving in her inbox.

Finally, Shira shares a skincare product she's been using for a while, the Balancing Hypotonic from Marie Veroni, a great alternative to regular toner for those with sensitive skin.

  • Nice to meet you (finally)!

In this episode of the podcast, Shira re-introduces herself to listeners. With a science background and a master's degree in clinical nutrition from NYU, Shira shares her experiences with body consciousness, being an athlete, an RD, and becoming a proud co-parent to four-year-old Oliver.

Through her studies and experience in the field, Shira realized that most people knew what to do but struggled to follow through because of various roadblocks. This insight inspired her to start food therapy, helping people identify and overcome their obstacles to make thoughtful food choices, even in stressful and busy situations. These principles and approaches are highlighted throughout the podcast. Today we want to know: what is something you’ve done or cultivated or accomplished that makes you feel proud of yourself? Big or small, we want to hear from you.

  • Shit I'm Loving: A soup in progress, Pumfu, the best boxed pancakes, and more!

It’s another amazing Shit I’m Loving ep! This week Shira dishes on her latest foodie interests with us, and trust us, you don't want to miss it. First up, she's on the hunt for some new salad dressing ideas and has a tasty recommendation.

Salad dressing adapted from Shiva Rose: soak a chopped onion with 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 Tbsp lemon juice, 1 Tbsp apple cider, 1 Tbsp coconut aminos and let sit for 20 minutes. Use liquid mixture for salad dressing and save the marinated onions for another recipe.

Shira's also been steaming up a storm in her Instant Pot, and she's got some quick and easy veggie soup plans in the works. And if you're looking for a tofu alternative, you might be pleasantly surprised by Pumfu, made from pumpkin seeds.

Last but certainly not least, Shira's got a sweet tooth for Sweet Laurel's grain-free pancake mix, promising fluffy and delicious pancakes. Give them a try and let Shira know how they turn out!
