In this episode of the podcast I speak to Robbie Britton
Robbie is an international ultra-runner focusing on track 24 hour events.
After a long lay-off from injury he made his return to racing last weekend to try to break the British 24 hour record at the Gloucester 24.
He didn’t achieve this goal but in the process he did break his own 100 mile PB with a time of 13hours 55 minutes!
We spoke about his short lived career as an American football player, his coaching business, and his love of Italian pizza!
He speaks about his recent decision to become vegetarian and we dive into his book 1001 running tips.
Robbie is a genuinely hilarious guy and I absolutely loved interviewing him.
So give it a watch/listen asap!

In this episode we speak to Garry Banford, former UK Special Forces with the SBS.
Gaz had a long and decorated career in the Special Boat Service. Rising through the ranks of the Special Forces to Sergeant Major, finishing his career as the lead recruiter for the whole of the Special Forces. Where he coached hundreds of aspirants through one of the most arduous military selection processes in the world!
Gaz now leads a very different life, choosing to focus on his family and his new career after service. He now fights on a different battlefield. The corporate battlefield!
Gaz now teaches high performing professionals to optimise their mindset and resilience in the workplace.
But its not just the suits that can benefit from Gaz's experience. We speak about some of the tools that we as ultra-runners can use to optimise our mental performance in races with the power of mindset and resilience training.
As always it was a pleasure to speak to Garry.

Abichal is the founder and editor of Ultrarunning World Magazine and possibly the ultra trail running worlds answer to Wim Hof!
Abichal is a deep thinker and believes that everyone can find themselves during a long run, especially the super long Transcendence 3100 mile race that he holds so dear.
He has spent many years training and racing all over the world specialising in the niche of the already niche area of extremely long ultramarathons!
Now he faces possibly his greatest challenge........organising the inaugural Bristol Running Show on November 26th 2022!
A great guy and I'm looking forward to meeting him in person at the show. If you want to be there too, follow the link below to the show and see his magazine website also.

In this episode of Understanding Ultra we speak to Martin Cox.
Martin has gained a cult following in the trail and ultra running world, producing some of the best runners the UK. Runners like Robbie Simpson and Beth Pascal the 2021 Western States champion.
Martin is s self confessed big personality and he says it like it is. Maybe that's why he's such a good coach!

Can you run a tough mountainous multi-day ultramarathon on just 16 miles a week?
The Outdoor Bloke can! What's more, he thinks everyone has the potential in them to do it too.
Lewis has spent the past few years living the primal life. He is a big believer in getting outside in green spaces, feeling the grass between your toes or the cold water on your body.
In this episode we talk about his holistic approach to exercise and nutrition. We dive into his belief that people trapped in the rat race need to become the 2.0 version of themselves, just like he has done himself!
