In a world where avoiding the hard thing is seemingly becoming commonplace and yet 'do the hard thing' is being shouted from the rooftops, we don't seem to be living all too congruently at times. Harps joins me today talking about all things getting uncomfortable, and whether wrapping kids (and ourselves) in cotton wool is helping or harming us in the long run.

It's amazing what some people can do when the proverbial hits the fan. If you're in doubt about that, have a listen to this chat with Mark Berridge. What a legend. Out for a cycle one day, just like every other day as he'd bang out hundreds of km's on the pushy... Until it wasn't like any other day. Until he was lying in a ditch, desperately broken and yet to grasp what life was about to be like.
Relearning to walk and figuring out life and the challenges that come with severe spinal cord damage surely aren't without frustration, uncertainty and emotional turmoil. But as you'll hear through Mark's telling of his story, they also aren't without their own set of silver linings. What are the embers that remain when your fire is all but out? Mark has discovered, it seems, that we are all a fraction stronger than we think.
I loved chatting with Mark. Just an everyday superhero doing hard shit and finding the good and tough situations!

It's fair to say I hit it off with Lisa Schermerhorn in this chat and when I tell you the name of her book, In Every Belief Is A Lie, you'll know just why! Lisa is a transformational coach, an author and a speaker who embodies her practices as a Master Practitioner of NLP and a certified Why Coach, helping people discover the why based on Simon Sinek's Know Your Why philosophies.
We unpack some of the ideas and strategies around what Lisa does best and what's important when doing the work (and looking for someone to do the work with).
She's a weapon, I think you'll love her!

What does it mean to give ALL of yourself in love? I love these chats with Jem Fuller because it's not often we get to hear such vulnerable and honest conversations about the real-life stuff... It's the stuff that matters, I reckon.
In addition to this we talk about defining regrets and should we or should we not have regrets? This comes off the back of Jem reading the brilliant Atlas Of The Heart by Brene Brown, a book I have read multiple times and continue to rave about.
I hope you love this chat as much as we did :)

She's back... 25 years as a professional ultra endurance athlete combating the toughest endurance events in the world, over 140 ultra-marathons, national titles and international podium places, Death Valley and an ultra-marathon through the hottest desert on earth... one might wonder how she finds the time to pen a bunch of international best-selling books, host a medical & health science podcast, stay at the forefront of longevity, antiaging and how to beat the odds when it comes to going into battle with medical illness. Well, wonder no more... Lisa is here today to talk about some of the medical-mayhem she's faced in her own world and family and how she has navigated her own research along the way.

Bec Brideson is a pioneer in a space you likely haven't thought all too much about. Gender-Intelligent thinking is a skill she has developed and that she is passionate about sharing. Ever heard the term 'womenomics'? Yeah, me either. I guess it takes someone like Bec, with a specific set of skills, circumstances and attributes to see business and life through a gender specific lens and help the rest of us capitalise on her insights.
In 1998, Bec Brideson became the youngest female advertising Creative Director in Australia and joined an exclusive rank attained by only 3% of female creatives in the world. She has worked with brands such as Virgin, Qantas, Holden, Cricket Australia, and recently the launch of AFLW and I dare say, she's pretty impressive!

It's been a big few weeks at Tiff HQ. As I've mentioned in a few past episodes, I've recently stepped back into the training arena with the view to competing. This episode was recorded at the very early stages of that decision (at the time of airing it's now a few weeks down the track). To say it's been interesting sure is a fair statement. I LOVE the process of observing what plays out physically, mentally, emotionally and behaviorally when I throw myself into any given endeavor, however out of all endeavors, the boxing ring is most certainly my biggest place of learning. So, I invite you to join me as I share my latest experiences around this. There will be more to come on this.

Renee McBride's childhood seemed pretty typical, until the day she learned the shocking truth about her father, that he was not away working at the Cottee's Cordial farm as she had so proudly believed but instead serving time in prison. At six years of age, Renee was suddenly faced with the reality that her daddy was a murderer. Renee's mother was a teenage runaway who became pregnant not long before he was incarcerated for the murder of two men.
Today Renee shares her experience processing this as a 6-year-old and beyond and reflecting on the dynamic of the relationship with her mother as a result. An incredible story and insight that you can dive much deeper into through her two books, The House of Lies and Unravelling Us.

After a sexual assault, it is normal for survivors and those who support them to have difficulty putting their experiences, thoughts and feelings into words. Navigating the health care, legal, and justice systems, as well as family and community systems can be overwhelming for survivors and their allies. Each system, because of its unique aims, uses different words to address sexual violence, which may differ from the terms that survivors and their communities use to define sexual violence.
My guest today Annie Novotny published Sexual Assault A to Z with the intention to offer a brief but comprehensive guide to common terminology, statistics, and resources related to the current rape-crisis movement. It shines a light on what might otherwise be confusing for survivors and allies seeking services.
Annie herself was 15 when she experienced sexual violence. She's one of the very few who bravely took legal action against their perpetrator, and unfortunately, she's one of the majority who painfully witnessed their perpetrator walk away free of charges. Far too many women will relate to part of this conversation for my liking, yet far too many women feel like they're alone and isolated in such an experience. Left feeling at fault, shamed, broken and in many cases carrying the heavy burden of keeping it a secret. Today Annie is an artist, art therapist, and educator. She facilitates art therapy and trauma counseling in her private practice, Roots and Rays Creative Counseling.

Roll With The Punches is where we step into the ring and go toe to toe with the hard sh*t life throws our way.
Hosted by former boxing champ turned strength coach and speaker Tiff Cook, RWTP brings you big conversations with world-class guests about psychology, relationships, trauma, the brain, and the patterns that can make a bloody mess of our lives.
If you're curious about human behaviour, keen to challenge the stories you tell yourself, and want to understand why the hell you do what you do, you're in the right place. Tune in. Tiff's in your corner.
The goal? To question what you've always believed, understand yourself a little better, and turn those aha moments into actual change.
Because knowing better and doing better are two very different things.
And let's be honest... life's gonna keep throwing punches. We may as well learn how to roll with them.
