As Bobby shares some thoughts around the recent loss of a friend, we reflect on what it is to experience life, death and hardship as we consider where love, connection, purpose and meaning comes into play. Immersing ourselves into the experiences and stories shared by other people can almost allow us to steal a second chance at a new perspective without having to reach that tipping point or catastrophe ourselves.
I hope you enjoy this episode!

Join me as I unpack some ideas around how we can move through uncomfortable circumstances or situations and straddle the space between someone else's experience and our own. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever felt emotional, defensive or reactive around an interaction or feedback. So, I thought this week I'd share a recent experience of my own where I found value in being introspective and taking the time to understand my own experience and emotional response and how best to actually respond and adapt.

The much-loved Mark LeBusque is back and together we are diving deep into a conversation around abandonment trauma and exploring how the same form of trauma can have opposing repercussions and present very differently for different people. We share personal stories of our own and throw around some ideas on challenging perspectives and making tough changes. As always it's an insightful and somewhat vulnerable conversation that I very much enjoyed and found value in having. I hope you do to!

Of all the idea's you might come up with around how to live life for a year or so, I bet you don't come up with catching 5 wild camels, training them and then walking with them across outback Australia? And I bet if you somehow did come up with such an idea, you wouldn't be in a hurry to quit your career in the film and TV industry. Well, Sophie Matterson did just that! I dare say her timing was pretty impeccable as it coincidentally took place in the midst of the pandemic (which makes the idea a whole lot more appealing in hindsight).
A fascinating and incredibly insightful journey on so many levels, I loved speaking to Sophie about this experience and I hope you do too!

Life span and health span is a topic Harps thrives on, and after some recent conversations people have raised the question around studies pointing towards married people (or specifically men) living longer when they are married as opposed to being bachelors (does this apply to women too?).
Well, I knuckled down and gathered some of this so-called research from the trusty internet and thought I'd unpack some of these theories with the bachelor himself and see what we might make of the situation. Of course, we didn't completely stick to topic for the whole conversation, but when do we?
Enjoy... and live long!

Time, huh. It's all we really have and it's running out every single moment. Yet we treat it like an endless resource, which it is until it isn't. And none of us really know when that might be. It could be years. Or it could seconds. (grim, I know)
None of this is news to us, we all know it and we reference it in all of the cliches, but do we really live our lives with our time being a priority? Today Bobby and I are riffing on this topic and our relationships with time. We talk about living by our values and knowing the difference between this and living driven by our fears. We talk about the self-imposed prisons many of us are bound by and the ways in which we can break the mould and step outside our current paradigms.

We all have a story. We tell it to ourselves (and others) over and over. Sometimes consciously and perhaps sometimes subconsciously. Maybe it was a story that we were told growing up, or maybe it was one that we ourselves put together as best we could to understand our world and our personal circumstances. Stories are the very thing that Roll With The Punches is based on. Hearing the power of other people's stories and perspectives so we might new gain strategies, inspiration, insights and resources to help us navigate our own lives better.
However, do you ever hear someone's story that feels like yours, but where they've drawn strength from adversity you feel like your story is the brick pulling you deeper into the emotional quicksand. This is a question I asked Dr. Bruce Perry to see what perspective he had towards the theory around how we relate to our story. It's a question that I continue to aspire to gain as many answers from as many guests I can, to help as many people find their own answers and hopefully release the anchor that might be our current relationship with our story.
This episode is some thoughts around this process, I hope it lands with some of you.

It's no secret that I don't mind opening my mind up to levels of the unknown and having a meander down the corridor of the unexplainable and 'woowoo'. And given the response to previous episodes we've had on the show, I'm far from alone in my child-like curiosity around this... So I'm pretty sure a few of you are going to love diving deep into Debbie Malone's world.
Debbie is an internationally acclaimed Psychic Medium, Author and renowned for being Australia's #1 Psychic Detective, having spent the last 30 years assisting police departments around the globe with high-profile missing persons and murder investigations such as Ivan Milat. We talk about her experiences with the spirit realm and the reality of straddling the two worlds (the world most of us experience and the world Debbie experiences).
It's a topic that certainly throws people into a tailspin when it comes to being a believer or a non-believer, which I think can even shine a light on what makes us choose some beliefs over others (even with the not so woowoo stuff).

Dr Lila Landowski is a multi-award winning neuroscientist and lecturer at the University of Tasmania, a Director of the Australian Society for Medical Research, a Director of Epilepsy Tasmania, as well as a regular guest expert science communicator for the ABC.
Lila is dubbed Australia's answer to Andrew Huberman so of course I made it my business to get in front of her and pick her brain, about our brains... and as always we meander through a range of ideas.. from science, sleep, medicine, mindset and the mayhem that is essentially life. I loved this chat and hope you do too!

This episode is a co-share of a conversation I had with Australia's legend of personal training, the lad, Craig Harper. In the midst of our preamble leading into a completely different topic we found ourselves 45 minutes deep into talking about all things human optimisation and how to manage our bodies. From genetics, to improving with age (both cognitively and physically) we throw around some ideas, lessons learned, thoughts and strategies around the relationship us humans have (and can have) with our physical, mental and emotional health.

Roll With The Punches is where we step into the ring and go toe to toe with the hard sh*t life throws our way.
Hosted by former boxing champ turned strength coach and speaker Tiff Cook, RWTP brings you big conversations with world-class guests about psychology, relationships, trauma, the brain, and the patterns that can make a bloody mess of our lives.
If you're curious about human behaviour, keen to challenge the stories you tell yourself, and want to understand why the hell you do what you do, you're in the right place. Tune in. Tiff's in your corner.
The goal? To question what you've always believed, understand yourself a little better, and turn those aha moments into actual change.
Because knowing better and doing better are two very different things.
And let's be honest... life's gonna keep throwing punches. We may as well learn how to roll with them.
