The Seahawks sent tight end Nick Vannett to the Pittsburgh Steelers late on Tuesday for a 5th round pick in the 2020 draft. Field Gulls contributor Mookie Alexander joins the podcast to react to the trade and talk about his latest article about why he feels the Seahawks can justifiably bench Chris Carson after his latest performance against the Saints. It doesn't just have to do with his problems hanging onto the football, but he has been relatively ineffective through the first three games. The Seahawks fall to 2-1 on the season and ruing a perfect September home record by Pete Carroll with a 33-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Ross Bell joins Brandan Schulze to talk about all of the frustrating moments from the game that led to a 27-7 deficit before the Seahawks finally mounted their fourth quarter comeback. Russell Wilson put up big yards through the air, but many of those yards didn't result in points. Seattle's usual bend-but-don't-break brand of defense did lots of breaking this week, and some key penalties led to Saints touchdowns. They also allowed the Saints to score in all three phases of the game, due in part to a rough game by Chris Carson.

The Seattle Seahawks look to continue their 15-0 home record in September under Pete Carroll as the New Orleans Saints come to town for the first time since the Seahawks 23-15 victory in the postseason before facing the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.  This will be the first matchup between the two teams since 2004 without Drew Brees under center for the Saints. Ross Jackson from All Saints Considered and the Locked on Saints podcast joins the show to talk about what Sean Payton has up his sleeve for Sunday's matchup. Also, through the first two games, the New Orleans defensive front has been impressive and that could help the Saints to keep Russell Wilson in check.

The Seahawks win over the Steelers comes with some concerns on offense, particularly if Chris Carson continues to fumble at least once per game. Brandan talks to Anthony about one of Pete Carroll's biggest rules with the team and how breaking that rule could lead to a bigger workload for Rashaad Penny. After two games, it looks like Russell Wilson's favorite targets are going to be Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf and tight end Will Dissly (who is from Montana). Looking ahead to the game against the Saints, we talk about how there is uncertainty over how New Orleans will handle the quarterback position. Also, the strength of the Saints being their defensive line could lead to another close game in Seattle.

The Seahawks are out to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2013 and Russell Wilson earns just the fourth September road win of his career. After being held scoreless in their last two trips to Heinz Field, the Seahawks posted four touchdowns on their way to a 28-26 victory. When Seattle wins, Clinton Bonner starts by sharing in IN. The first one goes to Malik Turner who had three catches in this game and was on the receiving end of a key third down as well as a big gain to help get the Seahawks near midfield prior to the end of the first half. Mychal Kendricks gets credit for spinning off a blocker as well as blowing up the Steelers running back later in the game. Each linebacker had a highlight tackle against the Steelers. Lastly, Brian Schottenheimer deserves credit for making a shift after the Seahawks struggled to protect their quarterback early on in the game.

Another week and another close win as the Seahawks turn what was looking like a comfortable fourth quarter win into a nail biter at the end. A fumbled transition between Russell Wilson and Chris Carson puts the ball on the ground and the Steelers are able to get a quick score to get within two points 28-26. That score would hold as the Seahawks control the ball for the last five and a half minutes of the game thanks to a Carson first down on a fourth and one play.

After losing a challenge to a pass interference penalty early in the game, Pete Carroll was able to successfully win an uncalled penalty on Tyler Lockett in the fourth quarter. It was a big day for Locket who had 10 catches for 79 yards. Wilson threw for 300 yards on the day and Pete Carroll was able to get a win on his birthday - the first win for the Seahawks in Pittsburgh since 1999.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are opening up their season at home after an embarrassing 33-3 loss in the opening week of the 2019 season. Dave Schofield from the Behind the Steel Curtain Podcast joins the show to let us know what to expect from the Steelers as they try and bounce back. Based on the history of large defeats in recent years, we can expect Mike Tomlin to have his team ready to bounce back, because that's exactly what they've been able to do. However, this is a different year and there are some concerns about the weapons the Steelers have on offense with the offseason departures of Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. The Seahawks come away with a 21-20 victory against the Bengals, and when the Seahawks win Clinton Bonner starts with an IN. The first of the year goes to Shaquille Griffin for coming up with some big time plays throughout the game as Shaq looks to rebound from his 2018 season. Props to Russell Wilson as he continues to put up efficient numbers while under duress and Al Woods comes up in a big moment in his first regular season game with the team. The Seattle Seahawks keep pace with the rest of the NFC West this week by getting the 21-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at home to kick off the 2019 season. Ross Bell of the First and Ten podcast joins the show to talk about some of the biggest takeaways from the Week 1 victory.

D.K. Metcalf's performance stood out among the Seahawks along with a two touchdown performance by running back Chris Carson. On defense, Jadeveon Clowney had an impact in limited action, but it was Al Woods and Quinton Jefferson who had some of the biggest plays of the game. Where the Seahawks shows their struggles were on the offensive line, perhaps taking on a better than anticipated Bengals defensive line. Tedric Thompson also had a play at the end of the first half that he would like to have back.
