This week I chat to the lovely Noreen from West Byfleet who's just turned 9 months sober. Noreen has had several previous years of sobriety under her belt, but went back to drinking before getting fed up and quitting again. She has worked really hard on making sobriety different this time and focusing much more on her emotional sobriety and overall wellbeing. Noreen is honest, she is frank and we both share a deep connection with our painful 'mother wounds'. Happy listening.

In this episode I chat with 32 year old Becky from Leeds who's 133 days sober at the time of this recording. What I love bout Becky's story is she challenged her relationship with alcohol a single person in her early 30s. Becky started drinking to help her cope with social anxiety in her late teens, which just carried on as a pattern at weekends until she decided to stop drinking altogether. I hope you enjoy her story as much as I did!

Trigger Warning - Suicide. This week's episode is with Mike in Devon who is just about to celebrate being clean and sober for 4 years (in June 2023). Mike opens up about his trauma and his journey with alcohol and drugs, and how a few failed sobriety attempts, resulting in relapses, finally lead him to the help and support he had been craving. Mike got the help he needed and now he is giving back in more ways than one, to the community to help others seek happiness in sobriety. He is open, candid and vulnerable. It's an emotional story, but it's one of courage, heart and power.

This weeks episode is with Steve from Canada, who lives just outside of Toronto. He is sober 1 year this week (at the time of the episode release). Steve recounts a childhood where his dad would drink every night and how he fell into a similar pattern, because it was the social norm. He talks of becoming aware of how alcohol was impacting his life, not resonating with AA, how Annie Grace's 'This Naked Mind' changed his life and the importance of education to transform your mindset. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this chat.

This week I am chatting to Julia from Tasmania. Julia is 6 months sober and has also been a member of my THRIVE Community since the beginning. After decades of heavy sociable drinking, Julia started to drink more at home and more on her own. After graduating in midwifery at 49 and meeting her current partner, she decided enough was enough and something had to change. Julia is honest, brave and relatable. I hope you enjoy listening.

This week I am talking to Katy from Chelmsford in Essex. Katy is a mental health nurse who has been sober for 6 months. Katy drank like many of her friends until one day she suffered some health issues that would transform her life forever. After working hard on her early sobriety and becoming a much loved member of THRIVE, Katy is now settling nicely into her alcohol free life. It's another very relatable story. I hope you enjoy it!

This week I am delighted to bring another male voice to Sober Stories. Luc from Toronto is six years sober at the time of this recording. After a hedonistic career in tech sales, Luc quit drinking to pursue a better quality of life for himself and for his future family. A wake up call during a visit to a therapist took Lucy into drug and alcohol therapy services and started his successful journey with sobriety. Luc is a passionate runner and an avid coach in the mens sobriety space. I hope you enjoy the episode.

This week I chat to Michelle from Brisbane, Australia. Michelle is 503 days sober at the time of recording this episode. She described her drinking style as a high functioning woman having everything in order from the outside whilst feeling a fraud on the inside. After signing up for a 3 month challenge to remove alcohol from her life, her sober journey quickly blossomed and grew from strength to strength. She now continues with her own personal development as well as focusing her attention to helping and connecting with others in a similar place she was pre-sobriety.
