    ABOUT JESSICA HONEGGER:
    Jessica grew up in San Antonio, Texas as the daughter and granddaughter of women who loved style and fashion. Some of Jessica's earliest memories are of digging through her grandmother's treasure trove of jewelry curated from adventures around the world.

    At age 16, Jessica traveled to Kenya and witnessed what life was like for children growing up without clean water, safe housing or loving families – and something began stirring in her heart. She knew then she wanted to spend her life creating an opportunity for the poor.

    She came home from the trip a bit of an activist. The girl who was once interested in jewelry and makeup held rallies at school to raise money for children in Kenya. After college, Jessica volunteered in Bolivia and Guatemala with Food for the Hungry. As she spent her days working with Bolivian Artisans discovering the vibrant markets of Guatemala, she saw what people could do for themselves with just a little bit of opportunity. She realized that entrepreneurship was a sustainable solution to poverty.

    Somewhere along the way, Jessica rediscovered her joy in fashion and style. She began to dream of using fashion and design to create economic opportunity for vulnerable communities.

    In 2010, Jessica and her husband Joe went on a trip to Uganda to visit friends who were serving at an orphanage. It was then that Jessica and her husband decided to grow their family through adoption. She hosted the first Noonday Collection Trunk Show as a fundraiser for her adoption from Rwanda – and the rest is history.

    Today as Co-CEO of Noonday Collection, Jessica spends her days inspiring others to live lives of purpose. She travels across the United States and around the world, training Ambassadors to be stylists and storytellers and visiting Artisans to encourage them in their work. When she's off-duty, Jessica loves spending time with her husband Joe and their three kids, Amelie, Holden and Jack.

    With Imperfect Courage, Noonday Collection Founder and co-CEO Jessica Honegger share real-life inspiration for readers to recognize their own worth, embrace vulnerability, connect with a community, and find the courage to achieve their full potential. Jessica shares stories from her own global entrepreneurial...

    MINDSET SECRETS TO RISING UP FOR YOUR DREAMS
    I don’t have to feel bad for my ambition.

    I don’t need to explain why I am motivated.

    I don’t have to excuse myself for wanting more or for thinking big.

    I don’t have to apologize for changing.

    I don’t have to feel bad for high standards or my different interests.

    Remember, though it may feel like it, you are not alone.

    You are a leader, and you need to put yourself around other people who are go-getters.

    Community is so important.

    Masterminds are key.

    Coaches will connect you.
    HOW TO BE YOUR BEST (WHEN PEOPLE AROUND YOU JUST DON’T CARE)

    * Do your own growth for you.
    * Be patient with meeting people where they’re at – and remember, you weren’t always where you’re at either; this can be frustrating, but there’s a lesson in it for you, always!
    * Get used to being different – and be okay with being you.
    * Explore being you! (Practice You Journal)
    * Know that it’s okay to make enemies … always lead with kindness, always show up, always build others up and offer to help … live in such a way that no one can point a finger of blame to you. Be okay with people not liking you because it’s more about them than it is about you. When you shine bright, it shines light to those who aren’t doing much with their lives.

    TOP FIVE STRATEGIES I USE TO NOT CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK:

    * Gratitude Grounding
    * “Just Be Trish” Mantra
    * Chill Out Mantra: ‘Nobody Cares”
    * Purpose Compass (Remind myself why what I am doing matters)
    * Permission to Be Different

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:
    If you struggle with your image in the mirror, or if you feel like you’re constantly itching within your own skin, pulling at your clothes or wishing you were a different size, shape or body type than you are, then you need to stop everything you’re doing and jump into The College of Confidence for the month of July 2018.  Our entire month of coaching is dedicated to body confidence and how to eat to fe...

    WHY WE BEAT OURSELVES UP IN THE FIRST PLACE
    We beat ourselves up because of a variety of false, self-limiting beliefs:

    -that we need to be perfect

    -that we have to prove our worth

    -that it’s not okay to make mistakes

    -that we need to know everything (instead of to learn)

    -that everyone but us has “it” all figured out

    -that the highlight reels on social media are people’s real lives

    -that we are holding onto toxic parts of our upbringing

    -that we need to earn our place in this world

    -that our voice doesn’t matter unless it’s a certain, conformed way

    -that we can’t trust ourselves

    -that we will be “found out” as imposters

    -that we aren’t really loveable

    -that we need to be doing “better” than we are

    -that when we are perfect then we can be happy

    {I beat myself up over everything – anything that wasn’t perfect, social awkwardness, how I looked, the fact that I had shameful eating secrets, imposter syndrome, my weight, my hair, my personality, my quirkiness, my interests, my family / my parents, my poor decisions, you name it, I found a way to shame myself over it. And shame is silencing. It reinforces the falsehood that you don’t matter – and it makes you want to hide.}
    HOW TO STOP THE SELF-SABOTAGE THAT COMES WITH SELF-CRITICISM
    Get angry about bullies in the world – and then be honest about who you have been to yourself (a bully – and that’s just not cool or okay!)

    Realize that negative motivation doesn’t work long-term for anyone. It puts us into a box of fear instead of setting us free to flow and thrive.

    Make a list of how “beating yourself up” has actually helped you. Now make a list of how it has harmed you, discouraged you, derailed you, put you into an all-or-nothing loop of behavior, or made you feel less than / unworthy / unprepared for life.

    {For me, I realized that I was making life – and my goals – way harder than it needed to be. Way more stressful, way more challenging, way more pressured. I changed because I got desperate – I figured, what did I have to lose?}
    THE STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS OF LETTING GO OF SELF-CRITICISM:

    * Give yourself permission to change.

    QUOTES ON RESPONSIBILITY:
    The price of greatness is responsibility. –Winston Churchill

    You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think. –Marianne Williamson

    You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. –Jim Rohn

    {Speak about my rape story. I took responsibility – not blame – just ownership over how I would be the hero of my own story; that my struggle would give me strength, that my hell would open new doors of healing in my life, that light would win over darkness, that I would be able to look at the worst night of my life and owe so much beauty to the brokenness that I would never wish it away.}
    THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RESPONSIBILITY, BLAME AND OWNERSHIP.
    -In my above story, I do not take ownership over it or blame for it – just responsibility for my reaction to and working through of it.

    Responsibility: the opportunity and ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization from others. / the state of having control over something or being accountable to something.

    -it’s an opportunity

    -it’s an obligation

    Blame: being at fault or wrong.

    Ownership: the act of possessing something.

    {I took ownership over my own healing process and over showing up for my future by taking responsibility for what I needed to do in the present. / With dreams or goals or business growth, I take ownership over what I have possession over – this helps me stay in my lane, resist comparing myself to others and thrive by taking action on what is important and what is available to me. Ownership keeps my growth simple and in my control.  My responsibility is to keep showing up on a consistent basis.}
    USING RESPONSIBILITY TO REALLY ACTIVATE HAPPINESS:
    I realized that my happiness is my responsibility.

    -Helped me stop waiting for my body to be perfect for me to be happy.

    -Helped me stop defining my happiness by my paycheck.

    -Helps me to have a healthy marriage; to not expect Brandon to make me happy.
