Our number one goal when going through divorce is to make sure our children are okay. This week Michelle Dempsey-Multack is joined by Terry Smith, author of the children's book "See You Later" to discuss how we can help our children as they go through childhood in two homes.
Michelle and Terry will take a deep dive into:
Terry Smith is a published writer, poet, and international publisher of books on art,
children's books, photography, poetry, and popular culture. The focus of the Artvoices
Books imprint was to publish books by women, the LGBTQ community, and authors of
color. In addition, Terry has contributed to the landscape of contemporary art as an artist,
gallerist, curator, and editor-in-chief of a nationally distributed art periodical. Smith’s
mission as editor-in-chief was to create a platform for emerging, neglected and under
recognized artists who were creating important and relevant works or arts. In New
Orleans Smith created a memorial featuring the 1,800 plus names engraved in gold leaf
on granite on the façade of the ‘Saratoga Building’ in New Orleans dedicated to the
victims of Hurricane Katrina. The memorial's a welcoming gesture of forgiveness and
unity for the city New Orleans. Smith has curated over 50 exhibitions including ’60
Americans’ ‘We Got Next’ and the ‘Saratoga Collection’ which is now housed in its
entirety at the Alexandria Museum of Art. Smith has exhibited more than 100 visual
artists without representation at art fairs in Europe and the United States. Smith is on the
advisory board of the Louisiana Architecture Foundation and is the father of noted artist
Lucien Smith.

Many women prolong the divorce process because they don't want to be stigmatized as "that" single mom. Often times, when we think of single motherhood, we think of the mom that is doing it all on her own, with no help of the other parent but in many cases, this isn't typically what we see. This week Michelle Dempsey-Multack is joined by Ashley Simpo to discuss their personal experience with single motherhood.
Michelle and Ashley will educate listeners on:
Ashley Simpo is a Brooklyn-based, California-bred writer, editor, and author. She has written essays, op-eds, and reported pieces for publications including Parents magazine, CRWNMAG, Huffington Post, Essence, Healthline, and BET. She has authored and contributed to two books, including, 'A Kids Book About Divorce', a children's book that explains divorce as well as '100 Diverse Voices on Parenthood', an anthology of first-parent stories of which she contributed and served as a project editor. Ashley is also a contributing editor for Mother Tongue, a print magazine that tells stories about motherhood from non-traditional points of view. She publishes an unfiltered monthly essay series When You Have Time and currently serves as the managing editor for Okayplayer in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

In the first few episodes of Moms Moving On: Unfiltered, Michelle Dempsey-Multack and Jess Evans covered dating after divorce and introducing your new partner to your children, but what happens when it is your ex that has someone new in their life? Even if you were the one who chose divorce, your ex dating someone new can trigger emotions you weren't expecting.
Michelle and Jess will take a deep dive into:
Jess is a single mom of two, Michelle's assistant and lead coach at Moms Moving On. She has worked alongside Michelle for years and takes a child centered approach to co-parenting. Jess was a SAHM while going through her divorce in 2018 and the thought of spending time away from her kids broke her heart. She quickly learned that it isn't always about the quantity of time spent with her kids, rather the quality. Her and her children live in Wisconsin and love everything the Midwest has to offer. As a family, they enjoy watching football, playing golf, getting outside and creating fun memories together. When Jess is not with her kids, she is spending time with her new partner, golfing and enjoying time with her girlfriends. As a child of divorce who has no relationship with her father, Jess wanted to ensure her children grew up having a strong relationship with both of their parents.
As a coach, Jess is passionate about empowering her clients and helping them move on emotionally after the divorce is final. She works closely with her clients to help them find new ways to fill their cup as they enter the world of co-parenting. She also enjoys working with clients to create a child-centered parenting plan that is fine tuned to avoid any grey area. If you are looking for support during or after the divorce, Jess would be honored to work with you.
