I want these stories to guide you, fuel you, but most importantly, teach you that anyone is capable of achieving greatness.

Death isn’t something many of us think about, but my next guest on The Richard Robbins Show has faced it more times than I dare count.

Adam Contos, CEO of RE/MAX and leader to over 125,000 agents across 110 countries and territories, used to command a different type of brigade in his earlier years. Right out of high school, Adam joined the United States Marine Corps. There are some stories that are almost too big to tell and Walter Schneider’s might very well be one of them. His influence spans across borders and oceans; spanning throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. His efforts have affected thousands of lives and have given birth to thousands of jobs. This interview is the story of how the RE/MAX Integra brand was built and the man behind ⅓ of the entire RE/MAX network worldwide.

Walter’s career in real estate began as an agent in 1976. After joining The Polzler Real Estate Company and meeting business partner Frank Polzler in 1978, the two partnered and purchased the rights to RE/MAX Eastern Canada in 1980. “We were real estate people getting into the franchise business, not franchising people getting into the real estate business,” says Walter. His real estate background was instrumental in RE/MAX Integra’s success and served as his footprint to talk intelligently and sell franchises.

Effective and efficient marketing is the key to growing a brand and generating buzz. My next guest knows the importance of marketing and attributes her massive success to her ability to execute on marketing tactics that gets results. Peggy Hill, founder of The Peggy Hill Team, reached 650 transactions in 2018 and shows no signs of slowing down. 

It all came down to one idea that changed Peggy’s life forever. As a new agent, she knew that without inventory, she had no business, so Peggy offered to market other agents listings for free. She said, “You need product - and the product is a listing. If I didn’t have a product, I had an issue, but if people were willing to give me their products, I had no problem marketing them.”  

This strategy helped turn Peggy into the multi-million dollar agent and team leader she is today.

I’ve always been an advocate for sharing knowledge. That’s the core belief here at RRI: giving starts the receiving process and my next guest has been both my student and my teacher over the past 25+ years. Leslie Benczik, of RE/MAX All Stars Benczik Team Realty, has been challenging me since the day we met as rival real estate professionals back in the early 90’s. We worked in the same market, prospected the same clients, and oftentimes, helped each other grow together rather than struggle separately.

Leslie was a self proclaimed ‘shy-kid’ who probably wasn’t well tailored for the real estate industry. He worked on his salesmanship, his work ethic and discipline, and is now a highly successful, 29-year real estate veteran and Team Leader in the Markham, Ontario area.
