  • I'll take my eggs frozen, please, with OBGYN/REI Dr. Zore

Double board certified OBGYN/REI Dr. Temeka Zore joins your hosts as they prepare for their egg freezing journey. Before their conversation, your hosts also touch on the scandal of fake nursing diplomas and transcripts being sold in Florida.

Dr. Zore answers all your hosts’ questions on egg freezing and IVF, what it was about reproductive endocrinology and fertility that made her want to specialize in it, and what the schooling looks like (spoiler alert: it’s extensive). They touch on custody agreements with embryos, Dr. Zore’s personal experience with freezing her embryos, and how many eggs survive the thawing process. She also touches on genetic testing, the percentage she sees of people doing IVF vs. egg freezing, and the male biological clock. We hope this conversation is as beneficial to anyone out there considering the IVF or egg freezing process as it was to your hosts!

  • Lovestruck: What Would Dr. Fisher Do?

It’s V-Day-Week! Your hosts are joined once again by sex scientist and one of Match.com’s Chief Scientific Advisors, Dr. Helen Fisher, to discuss personality styles and dating trends! She explains the 4 personality styles she’s identified and discusses the quiz that they all (and even Michael — and 15 million other people) took to figure out their style. Considered a TED All-Star, Dr. Fisher has over 21 million views on her talks, and today offers insight on new dating trends she’s seen from her annual Singles in America study. The 2022 study included questions about Roe v. Wade and inflation, which had notable results on people’s approach to dating. Speaking of love, Dani is on the move to Cleveland to be with Michael, and Jac may just have someone special that we get a little V-Day update on.

  • Let’s Talk About Abortion Care with Dr. Jen Lincoln

Your hosts are joined by the incredible Dr. Jennifer Lincoln; author, podcast host, and Executive Director of Mayday Health, an organization making abortion pills accessible to people in all 50 states. Despite never anticipating the reversal of Roe v. Wade, she highlights that restrictive access to care has been a reality for many people for a long time, and it is a point of privilege to only care now. Dr. Lincoln also discusses how Mayday Health formed and speaks about the value of enacting shield laws. The three talk about the dangers of pregnancy and the value of abortion for medical, life-saving reasons, and touch on Dr. Jen’s podcast, Let’s Talk About Down There, where she works to dispel the shame and stigma that surrounds reproductive health. Lastly, they discuss social platforms suppressing information they consider “controversial”, and present the pro-business argument for abortion, as we live in a country run on money, not ethics.

  • It comes in waves: COVID PTSD with RN Tay Lautner

    TW: anxiety, depression, PTSD

This week, your hosts welcome Tay Lautner, an RN who became a nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tay opens up about the anxiety, depression, and PTSD she suffers with as a result of her time nursing, and how that inspired her to start her blog, non-profit, and now, podcast. Tay also talks about her marriage to actor Taylor Lautner, how she got into nursing, and what nursing feels like for her now that she's removed from the work. She shares when she knew her career was impacting her mental health and the heartbreaking moment she was asked by a patient if they were going to live or die. Tay talks about the memory loss she experiences as a result of her PTSD, the biggest barrier she had to overcome in starting to speak about her experience, and what her healing journey looks like now. Plus, she has joined our network, Podcast Nation, and has launched a new podcast, The Squeeze, with the same mission as her foundation: to build a community that supports and encourages those struggling with their mental health, providing a place to share resources along the way.

  • Not just a “focus” thing: ADHD with Dr. Sasha Hamdani

Dr. Sasha Hamdani joins your hosts (including a very excited Danielle) to talk about ADHD, particularly in women. Danielle has been wanting to get an ADHD evaluation but has not yet had the opportunity, so this conversation is incredibly informative to her and WoMed community as a whole! • Ice, ice, baby: we’re freezing our eggs!

So much is changing for your hosts as Dani prepares for her big move to Ohio, and Jac officially starts as full-time faculty at UIC. In true nurse fashion, the two have decided to take on one more thing: egg freezing! Your hosts are working with Cofertility, a tech-enabled fertility ecosystem that is on a mission to make egg freezing and third party reproduction more human-centered and accessible. The two discuss some of their personal reasons for wanting to embark on this journey, and touch on the ethics of egg freezing, a topic they’re planning to explore more in future episodes. This is going to be an emotional ride with episodes throughout Season 6 welcoming doctors, experts, and members of the Cofertility team to walk us through it all. We can’t wait to get started and are so excited to update you along the way.

  • More than a grieving widower: Michael, Part 2!

Welcome to Part 2 of the conversation with Michael! This week, your hosts dive into his experience with the healthcare industry, which goes beyond just the grieving widower he is labeled as. He talks about his appreciation for nurses, and how he believes they are the backbone of healthcare. He also is incredibly educated on the faults in the system, but expresses how everyone is just reacting to something they’re being forced to do; while everyone wants to villainize part of the chain, it doesn’t work that way. He also discusses his FDA approved patent (casual) which he developed with his late wife for a topical therapeutic that would offset a treatment side effect, Hand-foot syndrome. Building a lab in his basement, he ran a small clinical trial, submitted his patent in 2019, and received it just a few months ago. Reducing the suffering of others with this therapeutic, that worked for his wife, is one of the many ways she lives on. This episode truly offers a look into Michaels heart, and we are so grateful to him for having this conversation with The WoMed community.

  • The one where we interrogate Michael

Welcome to Season 6, kicking off with one of our most anticipated guests: Dani’s boyfriend, Michael! They talk about how Jac was the first person they spoke to after leaving the beach, how they managed to release episodes while D was filming, and Michael’s first impression of Danielle. D dives into job and apartment hunting as she prepares to make the move to Ohio, and how Michael accidentally ended up sitting in on a job interview with her (#awkward). They touch on their shared experience of grief, the backlash Michael received once the show aired, and creating boundaries in the DMs. Lastly, they share when they knew they were falling in love. If you feel like you want more of these two love birds, we’ve got you covered: stay tuned for Part 2 next week.
