I'm a big reader, and every once in a while I come across an idea or a book that I just HAVE to share with everybody. When it has to do with my clients or listeners, even more so! Today's one of those days.
The book "The Gap and the Gain" by Dan Sullivan really hit me hard—and as soon as I read about the concept I just knew you all would love it.
In a nutshell, there are two sort of mindsets we can be in, "the gap" and "the gain". When we're in "the gap", our thoughts tend toward thinking what we lack, while in "the gain", we think of our potential and what we've already got. The best part? Our situation doesn't have to change in order to switch mindsets—which means that those thoughts are completely within our control.

One thing I talk about all the time (because I truly believe in it and do it myself!) is the power of journalling! While it might be just writing things on paper, science shows it actually does more than you might think—and the benefits can be profound.
On this episode of Building Resilience, we talk about the proven benefits of writing in a diary. I'll give you some tips and techniques of how to make the most out of your experience (as I said, I've been doing this for quite a while now!), some things to think about while you're journaling, and some novel ideas to improve your outcomes.

Something new or scary happens in your life—new job, financial trouble, you name it. Your brain's natural reaction might be to worry about it.
But what if I told you that worry is actually really desctructive and frankly, not even necessary?
On this episode of Building Resilience, we're going to talk about worry. What is it (vs. what we THINK it is), why do human brains do it, and what can we do to kick worry to the curb forever?

Usually, when you hear someone like me say the word "validation", you probably already think you know what I'm about today. "Don't seek validation from others", right?
Well, yes. But not exactly.
Validation plays an important part of all of our lives. It helps us know how we're doing—and I don't necessarily think external validation is a bad thing. Make sure to listen to learn about healthy validation, and what benefits can come from using it well.

What if changing your mindset was the only step you needed to take to change your life?
If you know anything about the placebo effect (or if you listen to my podcast) you know by now that our brains are an amazing thing, yes, but they can be heavily influenced.
On today's episode of Building Resilience, I'm going to talk about mindset: the things you can feed your brain to really make a difference, and the simple steps you can take to shape your reality by shaping your thoughts.

The other day I came across a quote: "Don't take criticism from someone you would not go to for advice". It was such a good quote, I knew a social media post alone wouldn't suffice—I had to make it a whole podcast episode.
Taking criticism and advice are two sides of the same coin, but at their core, they aren't really that different. Anybody can offer you words—you then get to decide how you interpret those words.
On today's epsiode of Building Resilience, we talk about advice and criticism. How are they the same? How are they different? And what does all of this have to do with slime?

The human brain is an amazing thing. Arguably one of the most amazing things about it is its ability to adapt to the situations we put it in. That's called "neuroplasticity".
Learning about the brain can actually help us understand how the brain functions (even when things are okay) what you can do to boost, to change, to improve, and even protect your brain.
Our brain health is so key to our quality of life—it's really key to our physical health, our relationships, our overall resilience. That's why today I wanted to talk a bit more about neuroplasticity with you.
