And now, for a bit of a different episode.
Once upon a time, there was a pink ball—and a little girl who loved it. One day it drifted out to sea...or so she thought. On today's episode I tell a treasured story from my life about personal symbols, and what we can take from the stories we share.

There are lots and lots of benefits about planning in the future. However, being in the present is also really important for your nervous system—reminding your nervous system, it's safe. It doesn't have to worry about the threats that it perceives in the past or in the future, because none of those threats exist when you are in the here and now.
On this episode of Building Resilience, I'm going to explain the explain a tool called "the five channels", originally coined by Bebe Hansen (if you like my interpretation, please check hers out too!). How can you figure out what channel is right for the right moment? And how can switching channels be a game changer?

We have five ways to interact with the world around us. It's how we percieve everything in our lives. Those ways? Our senses. Because our senses only allow us to percieve the world in real time, they can be used to ground ourselves.
On this episode of Building Resilience, I'm going to go over how to best do that—demonstrating using some examples in my own life as well as some thoughts on how YOU can use these techniques.

We've all got a superpower. It can catch attention, plant ideas in peoples' minds, and help us learn. That superpower? Asking questions.
Since our brain is always a work in progress, science has shown that questions are a way to break out of the ruts and worn-down neural pathways in order to create new habits, try new things, and challenge our mindsets.
On this episode of Building Resilience, we're going to talk all about these questions—and how we can use them to our advantage in relationships and all over our life.

"Joy" is a word we all know, but maybe don't think about the meaning too much. It has a similar feel to "happy"—but it means oh so much more.
On today's episode, I talk about the true meaning of joy. What is it? How can we start to feel it (and create it) in our lives? And how can we avoid the common pitfalls that can eat away at the daily joy we're all capable of feeling?

I love coming up with analogies. I love hearing them. If you're still a fan of this podcast, you probably are too!
So picture this and let's see if it works for you: We are all in a car driving along to our destination: life. The question is who is driving your car? Now sometimes we allow our survival brain (or the monkey as I often call it) to be driving. Fea, and other emotions (which make up our survival brain) are all very real, and we do need them along in our journey, but they are not necessarily good drivers.
On today's episode I'll help you to identify who's driving, who's your passenger, and what to do if you want to switch who's driving!

Just like sailing an ocean, life can throw you some unexpected waves. As I thought back on some of the lessons I've learned recently I realized that all the important emotions for me seem to start with the letter C and it's kind of true—the letter C is everywhere along the path to confidence and resilience.
So I wanted to share that path with you today—as well as an easy to remember them (I'm sure you'll "C" what I mean).

When you hear the word "pain" you probably instantly think it's a negative. And while pain is never going to feel "positive", there are different types of pain.
Today, we're going to talk about two different types of pain—clean pain and dirty pain. Which one is healthy, can help you heal, learn, and move forward, and which one hurts, can postpone our recovery, and that we can actually choose.
