  • Anxiety Dragged Me to Rock Bottom – But I Fought Back

Matthew Richardson knows what it’s like to hit rock bottom after years of battling anxiety. At his lowest point, he was barely sleeping two hours a night, overwhelmed by relentless panic attacks, brain fog, and a crushing sense of doom.

It all started with a devastating arm injury just three weeks before a long-awaited Cirque du Soleil performance – a dream opportunity he’d worked hard to achieve. The stress of uncertainty, catastrophic thinking, and fear of losing everything quickly spiraled out of control, leaving him feeling like a shadow of himself.

He tried everything – meditation, therapy, strict routines – but nothing seemed to work. Then he found the Bye Bye Panic mentorship program.

With a clear, structured plan and the encouragement of a supportive community, Matthew discovered how to stop resisting his anxiety and start responding to it in a new way. Within months, he felt like himself again – stronger, calmer, and more grounded – and finally broke free from the cycle of fear.

In this episode, BBP mentor Kaylee chats with Matthew about his journey, the challenges he faced, and the tools that helped him rebuild his life.

  • How to Activate The Parasympathetic Response to Calm Anxiety

Living with anxiety often feels like you’re stuck in high alert mode – heart racing, thoughts spiraling, muscles tensed for no reason. In that state, even the simplest tasks can feel overwhelming. It’s not your fault – it’s just your nervous system doing its job a little too well.

But here’s the good news: the same way your nervous system has learned to be anxious, it can learn to be calm.

Your body has something called the parasympathetic response – it’s your natural way of hitting the brakes, helping you relax and feel safe.

At the center of this process is your vagus nerve, which plays a critical role in regulating your nervous system. Strengthening your vagal tone – your vagus nerve's ability to activate the parasympathetic response – is key to calming your body and breaking free from the anxiety cycle.

You don’t need to change your whole life to make this happen. By understanding how anxiety works and learning how to respond differently when it shows up, you can retrain your system to react with calm instead of fear.

In this episode, I’m sharing how to face uncomfortable moments without escaping or fighting them, and how to build balance in your nervous system so you can break free from anxiety for good. It’s simpler than you think – just a few small shifts can make a big difference.

    Let’s get started!

    Key Takeaways:

  • 40 Years of Anxiety Ended in 6 Months – Jaime Luna Explains How

Jaime Luna’s battle with anxiety began when he was just five years old.

His first panic attack came after seeing a ghost, leaving him scared and unable to breathe. Over the years, his symptoms grew worse – overwhelming fear, dizziness, heart palpitations, a constant sense of doom, and dissociation. Stress from his role as a preacher, especially dealing with toxic relationships, only made things harder.

Jaime tried everything to feel better: therapy, mindfulness, even a Spanish anxiety program. But instead of improving, his anxiety intensified.

Everything changed when Jaime joined Bye Bye Panic. With the help of mentors, he learned how his thoughts and behaviors were keeping him stuck. He let go of being overly self-critical, started focusing on the present, and stopped feeling like his struggles were impossible to overcome. Step by step, Jaime broke free from anxiety’s grip.

Today, Jaime says his life is completely transformed. He’s stronger in his faith, present with his family, and looking forward to the future with hope.

In this episode, Kaylee, one of the BBP mentors, chats with Jaime about the steps that helped him recover and how anyone can do the same.

  • Be Brave Enough to Trust the Healing Process

Feeling trapped in anxiety often leads to one instinct—control. Control your thoughts, your symptoms, and every aspect of your life in a desperate attempt to feel safe. But what if this very habit is the reason you stay stuck?

The truth is, control doesn’t heal anxiety—trust does. Trusting that even if symptoms appear, you’ll navigate through them. Trusting that healing doesn’t require perfection but bravery.

Anxiety recovery begins with a shift in mindset: letting go of the need to manage every sensation and responding with courage instead of panic. Imagine standing in a grocery aisle during a wave of anxiety and choosing to stay rather than run. This is bravery in action.

Healing isn’t about eliminating fear but learning to face it with resilience. The more you let go and trust, the more space you create for growth.

In this episode, we’ll unpack why trust is the ultimate antidote to anxiety and how it can transform your recovery journey. If you’re ready to stop battling for control and start trusting in the process, this one’s for you.

    Let’s get started.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Introduction (00:00)
    • Hyper-control worsens anxiety (Bravery to let go) (01:37)
    • Two parts of recovery (03:03)
    • Applying recovery principles to life (05:08)
    • Building faith through experience (08:46)

  • 4 Phases of Healing a Highly Sensitive Nervous System

One of the biggest challenges in healing a sensitive nervous system is breaking the cycle of reaction. When symptoms appear, it’s easy to jump into what I like to call the “five Fs”: fighting, fixing, fearing, focusing, and getting frustrated.

Each of these responses only amplifies the discomfort, trapping you in constant symptom management.

For a long time, I thought that if I just fought hard enough or found the right fix, I’d finally be free. But trying to control every sensation kept me stuck—it actually fed the cycle instead of breaking it.

It became clear that I needed to approach my symptoms differently. That’s when the real shift happened. I learned to change my mindset to one of acceptance without expectation, which helped my nervous system naturally desensitize over time.

In this episode, I’ll explain the four phases of healing and how to navigate each of them, from the reactive stage to a place where life becomes bigger than any symptom.

Tune in to learn how to move past the five Fs and make real progress in your recovery journey.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Phase #1: Trying to fix symptoms through the five Fs (01:34)
    • Phase #2: Allowing symptoms to exist without resistance (03:28)
    • Phase #3: Avoiding expectation in acceptance (04:44)
    • Phase #4: Prioritizing life over recovery (06:48)
    • Embracing setbacks as a natural part of the journey (08:14)

  • Every Anxiety Setback Is a Step Toward Full Recovery – Devyani Shorey Knows Why

After years of struggling with anxiety symptoms, she finally found the support she needed in the BBP mentorship program and community. She made rapid progress and soon felt ready to go it alone.

  • The Fastest Way to Shift Your Brain Out of Anxiety Mode

Anxiety has a way of making you feel like it’s here to stay. Worry starts small, as a concern about your health, work, or just an off feeling. However, the nervous system can quickly become so sensitive that even minor stressors feel overwhelming and push you into a constant state of high alert.

To put it simply, worry builds on itself. This “worry loop” triggers symptoms like heart palpitations, headaches, or digestive issues, fueling anxiety and making it feel even more real. Each sensation fuels more worry, releases more adrenaline, and sometimes causes panic attacks. And as you can guess – all of that further intensifies the cycle.

To get out of this loop, you don’t need to manage each symptom alone, but instead, learn how to calm the nervous system and let thoughts pass without reacting. Understanding how your mind and body respond to worry can make all the difference, giving you tools to detach from constant worry and shift out of anxiety mode faster.

In this episode, I talk about nervous system sensitization and how desensitizing it can be the fastest way to break the anxiety cycle.

Tune in to learn what it takes to calm your system and shift out of anxiety mode.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • How worry manifests physically (01:27)

  • How To Finally Stop Ruminating On Negative Thoughts

Ruminating on negative thoughts is one of the most stubborn anxiety symptoms. One thought leads to another, and it’s easy to spiral down a rabbit hole of “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios.

You keep worrying, and your thoughts feel painfully real. It's because anxiety pulls from past experiences and links old fears with current worries. Actually, this way, your anxiety is tricking your brain into staying on high alert.

And that isn’t something you should blame yourself for or think there’s something wrong with you. It’s simply your brain’s way of trying to protect you.

The most important thing to remember about intrusive thoughts is that the more you react to them, the more power they hold. So, the key to stopping this cycle isn’t fighting the thoughts but learning to step back and let them pass on their own.

    So, how to do that?

Tune in for this episode and find out!

I’ll break down the mechanics of anxiety and show you how detaching from your thoughts can make a real difference.

Tune in to let go of ruminating on negative thoughts and finally find peace.

When your nervous system is constantly on high alert, even small things can feel overwhelming. In these moments, every sensation may feel like a warning that something’s wrong.

But this is happening because your body is trying to protect you, even though there isn’t actually any real danger.

To calm your nervous system, battling these feelings won’t help. Instead, allow them to be there without trying to fix or escape them. Each time you respond to these sensations with calm, you’re showing your body it’s safe, and over time, it begins to settle down on its own.

In this episode, I’ll walk you through simple ways to help your body move toward a natural, calm state. You’ll see how small changes in your response can guide your nervous system to rest and feel safe again.

  • How to Calm a Brain Stuck in Survival Mode

When your brain’s in survival mode, even the smallest things can feel overwhelming, like you’re constantly on edge for no real reason. You might wonder why simple situations now set off waves of anxiety or why your body reacts like there’s danger around every corner.

This isn’t about something being broken in you – it’s actually your nervous system being in a state called “sensitization.”

Think of it like a volume knob turned up way too high, so even the quietest sounds feel blaring. After a tough experience – like a panic attack or a high-stress period – your brain can start overreacting to little things, sensing danger where there isn’t any.

Getting back to calm doesn’t mean fighting these feelings or trying to avoid them. It’s about retraining your brain, showing it there’s no need for panic. So next time anxiety shows up, try meeting it with calm instead of tension. Bit by bit, your brain starts to trust again, learning that it’s okay to relax.

In this episode, let’s dig into how you can make that shift and feel in control again.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Intro (00:00)
    • Why is my stress response so sensitive? (01:35)
    • “Just anxiety”? The frustration of feeling dismissed (02:29)
    • Nervous system sensitization explained simply (03:24)
    • How panic attacks can change everything (04:38)
    • Sensitization and constant fight-or-flight mode (06:10)
    • Relearning to differentiate between threats (08:28)
