Do you find yourself running into issues with the landscape of today's dating culture? There's so much toxicity out there with swipe culture. Not only that, but a lot of people are also sabotaging good relationships with toxic traits. The truth is that healthy relationships take work, and that's exactly why I had to bring on today's guest, John Kim. John is an author and a licensed therapist who practices transparency and shares his own story (which is not the norm in the therapy industry)! He talks about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting dating culture. He shares his own experience of learning to surrender. We chat about what people do to sabotage their relationships and how your "relationship buds," like taste buds will change over time. John also shares how to figure out the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.
About John Kim:John Kim is an author and licensed therapist who pioneered the online life coaching movement eight years ago, after going through a divorce and rebirth. He started a blog called The Angry Therapist and quickly built a devoted following of fans who loved the frank and authentic insights that he freely shared on social media. He pulled the curtain back and showed himself by practicing transparency and sharing his story, something therapists are taught NOT to do. Kim became known as an unconventional therapist who worked out of the box by seeing clients at coffee shops, on hikes, and the gym. He quickly built a coaching team of his own and launched a sister company called JRNI COACHING, an online coaching school. Kim's current obsession is sending out thousands of daily texts to change the way we change.

The connection between anger and addiction isn't something we can sweep under the rug. It's clear that these have a direct correlation with each other and that's something I talked about with today's guest Karen Salmansohn. Suppressed anger in our body can cause us to want to numb and distract ourselves from it, which for Karen translated into food addiction. Today we talk about tangible tools to help with overcoming addiction and anxiety plus how you can start to forgive yourself from the things that you've felt shame around. She shares strategies to help bring yourself to a place of wellbeing even with the heightened anxiety of today's world and how to lean into the contractions of life so we can enjoy the beauty on the other side.
About Karen Salmansohn:Karen Salmansohn is a former stressed-out advertising Senior VP and award-winning designer turned healthy living expert, bestselling author, and book designer, as well as longevity research geek and teacher at ISHTA Yoga. Her new book Instant Calm was written to share her "short, simple meditations for people who don't have time to meditate" - the people who need to relax the most.

Are you at peace with your body? This is something that I've had to learn to create for myself especially after years in the fitness industry as a competitor. Back in those days, I was using the sport of competing as a mask for my eating disorder. In this episode, I'm diving into how many fitness competitors are in the sport for the wrong reasons and why you need to move away from having a transactional relationship with exercise (and actually nourish your body!). I share why dieting isn't a sustainable way to achieve weight loss and how to use your breath in an intentional way to help you reconnect with your body.
