  • President Mauricio Macri’s clean break with Argentina’s ‘Kirchnerite’ past
Since Mauricio Macri took office last December, a lot has changed in Argentina. In just a few months, the new president has made a clean break with the country's Kirchnerite past and populist left-wing model, and he has introduced a raft of new measures to kick-start Argentina's sluggish economy. The new shock measures have already started to take effect, not just in terms of the economy, but also by dividing the Argentine society even further. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Aline Schmidt

  • Spain: Employees denounce their working conditions in Catalonia's abattoirs
In Spain, anger is boiling over in Catalonia's abattoirs. Spain is Europe's second-largest producer of pork but is facing stiff competition from around the world. As a result, working conditions in its slaughterhouses have deteriorated over the past few years. Most of the jobs are now done by foreigners, who are forced to accept a relentless pace of work, and salaries that are well below the minimum wage. Our team in Spain reports. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Aline Schmidt and Claire Pryde.

  • Liberia prepares to take full control of its security
At the end of June, Liberia will retake full control of its own security. For the past thirteen years, the UN's peacekeeping force, UNMIL, has supported the country's police and military. The UN calls the handover "one of the most significant milestones for Liberia since the end of the country's civil war". But concerns remain that Liberia's security forces are still not ready for the task that awaits them. Our correspondent Katerina Vittozzi reports. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Elom Marcel Toble and Claire Pryde.

  • Tunisia steps up security measures to reassure tourists
In Tunisia, the tourist season is just beginning. Since last year's deadly terror attacks on the Bardo museum in Tunis and a hotel in Sousse, which targeted tourists, the sector has been in crisis. The attacks revealed various security failings and some governments, like the UK, still advise against travel to Tunisia. But security measures have now been stepped up. Our correspondents report. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Josh Vardey and Claire Pryde.

  • Beijing tightens control of foreign NGOs
The Chinese government recently passed a law to bring foreign NGOs under stricter control. The legislation, which will come into force in 2017, gives police wide-ranging powers to monitor the activities of thousands of foreign NGOs which are regarded as a threat to national security in China. Under the new law they will no longer be able to operate independently and will be required to form partnerships with Chinese state-run companies. Our team reports from Beijing and Shenzhen. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Anna Kowalska and Laura Burloux.

In Egypt, protests continue despite the regime's crackdown on dissent. After doctors and lawyers voiced their anger, now it's the turn of Egypt's journalists. As a result, the press union has slammed attempts to intimidate it amid a deterioration of press freedom in the country. Our team in Cairo reports. A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Elom Marcel Toble and Molly Hall.
