This week I am joined by a mentor, friend and my therapist, Chantale Marie! Those of you who have been listening will have heard me paraphrase her wisdom on many occasions, and so I am honoured to be chatting with her on the pod today.
You can read a little more about Chantale below but what you can expect in today's episode is what addiction and high performance have in common, all things core beliefs and how to uncover them and why this matters! On this note, you've probably heard of limiting beliefs? We chat about the role these have to play and the way we can spot them in our behaviour. We do a deep dive into the conscious v subconscious, misconceptions about therapy, how to grow/feed thoughts and lastly how to deal with negativity - here C gives some fantastic practical tips to deal with this in the moment as well as my favourite visualisation!

If you're someone who wants to get more out of your time, or feel like they constantly don't have enough of it, then this ep is for you!
Lots of people always ask me - how can you do the podcast and run ES FIT all whilst working as a 9-5 lawyer? Today I share my productivity tips and reasons why I believe time blocking is the key to being super efficient. I also talk about how routine can actually spark and enhance creativity. I gives some tips on how to time block and use non-negotiables and boundaries to structure these.
I end on a really practical activity which we do together to take things off your mental to do list, in turn freeing up that brain space.

Join me today as I firstly set you a lockdown challenge (although this is great for anytime too) as well as get to know the beautiful Rachael Finch and chat all things wellness and balance!
Today Rach shares what prioritising means and looks like to her, and how COVID has thrown a spanner in the works, but in this, some tips on how to stay on top of your priorities! We also dive into approaching our self care and health like we would any other important appointment (massive for those of you who "don't have time"), processing emotions, giving yourself space, when pushing goes too far and some key things to thing about when making health changes.
Lastly, Rach introduces a concept for the first time on the pod called 'bio-individuality' which is an incredible resource when considering our balance!

Today I am joined by Georgina Claxton, a Physiotherapist with a special interest in Women’s Health, Clinical Pilates Instructor and Sport Scientist. Her purpose is to make a difference and inspire others to be their most authentic selves.
What I most enjoyed about today's chat was the way Georgina took some complex & professional concepts, and made them so disgestable for us and our balance - we speak tapping into one's purpose, what homeostasis has to do with balance, avoiding adrenal fatigue, how to actually take things off your plate and why being in our optimal thriving state is balance (and how to get there).
We also did a deep dive into why you are more than just your title, i..e what you do isn't who you are which I LOVE, and is so important to grasp (especially in the context of our balance). We ended on a chat about what role body image has to play in your balance and Georgina is open with her own struggles and journey in this area.
I know you're going to love this chat, so send it to someone who will too! Share this on your story and tag @thebalancetheory and @georgieclaxton to let us know you vibed with us!

Today I am rejoined by Hayley Westoby (previously featured on Episode 22), and she catches us up on all she has been up to since we last spoke + her new business!
Think you don't need a personal brand because you don't have a business? THINK AGAIN! We do a deep dive into what personal branding can teach us about our own balance, as well as helping us define our values and core pillars. This personal web can teach you more than you think including about your non negotiables, dealing with your inner critic and much more.
Speaking of non-negotiables, we're quick to define what they are in relationships, but what about our work? And how about those limiting beliefs that get in the way of life sometimes? Stay tuned as we chat about all of this in great depth and show how you can reframe limiting beliefs to empowering ones.

This week I chat to UK author and anthropologist Simon Roberts, about 'the power of not thinking'. This title is NOT what you think! When I picked up the book, I expected tips and tricks on how to shut my mind off, BUT what I got was so much more and a very unique take on our bodies, and now I can share that with you all!
Simon and I chat about embodies knowledge and how the way we feel something is more profound than just seeing or hearing it. We question the concept of mind over matter/mind first, and talk about putting the body first as an idea! There are some things, like your intuition, that your body just feels and knows to be true, but you can't explain it! Why don't we put more emphasis on that? I think we're in a culture that prioritises the brain and often forgets to give credit to our bodies too!
Simon shares how this concept is not only important for our balance, but also empathy, business strategy decisions and more! We also cover the idea of Body Storming.
I know you're going to love this episode! Tag us and let us know what your biggest takeaways were. ALSO if you haven't had a chance to leave a review or rating, it would mean to world to us as an Independent podcast and our growing community.
Stay Balanced,
Erika
