Marathon runner, mother of three and vegan athlete Leah Fitzgerald speaks on her journey into running and what it takes to achieve at 2.46 marathon!
It’s no surprise that the level of commitment to run at such a speed takes a huge amount of grit, consistency and determination, and Leah exemplifies all three. Leah got into running after having her first child as a way to get back into some general fitness and set a positive example as a mum. Overtime this snowballed into chasing the sub-3 hour marathon, followed by competing on the world stage at the Marathon Majors. Leah was hooked!
Leah talks us through her highly structured training week, what an average session looks like, how she recovers and her nutrition plan. We learn about the difficulties of balancing work and being a mum, how she stays motivated, driving forces and what she thinks about during her training to stay strong.
After the covid years Leah came returned to racing with fierce determination, achieving her PB of 2.46 in Berlin 2022. We hear about her prep for this race and how it all unfolded on the day. Leah is not stopping here and has lots on the cards for next year and beyond.
Leah’s love for running and desire for progression is infectious, if you’re looking for training motivation than look no further than this ep!
