1.WTH=What the heck
我去，搞什么呀！
这句比单独的”what”表达的语气更强烈。


*hell：地狱
heck 是hell的委婉语。


2.LOL=laughing out loud 放声大笑
相当于我们平时聊天发的“哈哈哈哈”。


3.LMAO=laughing my ass off 
大笑不止!笑死我了！


这个表达很有趣，我们常说“笑掉大牙”，美国人说“笑掉屁股”， LOL LOL 
*ass ：屁股


4.IDK= I don’t know.
我不知道。


这个缩略语平时交流也可以用。


5.GTG(G2G)=got to go 
我得走了。


相当于Byebye 。


6.Aight=alright=I got it .
明白了。
这个日常交流也可以用。


7.OMG=Oh my god!
我的天呐!


这些实用表达，是不是很快就可以pick up（简单易学好上手），快用起来！

最近有部剧“很火”——《安家》，是根据日本电视剧《卖房子的人》改编的。今天我们就来聊一聊，“安家”你需要知道的表达。

在此之前，
请收下聊剧常用表达：

* TV show：电视剧 电视节目
* Soap opera：电视泡沫剧
Drama to the Max ：足够戏剧化
Dramatic and rediculous： 剧情比较狗血
* Sitcom:情景喜剧 （像我们熟知的《老友记》，《摩登家庭》），但现在基本上都统称为TV show。
* Binge-watch 追剧
Binge /bɪndʒ/ ： do too much of something 无节制
* One season：1季
* One episode： 1集
Binge-watch，它曾经被英国Collins字典宣布为：2015年的年度第一热词！

那么，从《安家》这部剧中，我们能学到哪些相关词汇和地道表达？

1.房屋中介 Real Estate Agent

他是做房地产发家的：
He built his family fortune from selling real estate.

2.买房的客户
Client ？ Customer？

Client：通常有委托人的意思
Customer：通常是指顾客

所以，买房的客户要用Client。

那其他地方的“客户”都怎么称呼呢？
* 医院 : Patients (病人)
* 旅馆 : Guests (客人)
* 公共交通：Passengers (乘客)

3. 租客 : Renter 

Rent的用法：
*租房子：rent an apartment （verb 动词）
*租金：rent （ noun 名词）
 I need to pay the rent.我要付租金。
*合租：rent sth. with sb.
She rents a house with three other girls. 
她和其他3个女孩合租一套房子。

4.房型的表达：

公寓：Flat ( 英国 ） Apartment ( 美国）
别墅：Villa  /ˈvɪlə/
洋房：Western style house
平房：Bungalow/ˈbʌŋɡəloʊ/ （one story house）
*story n. 层

接下来，我们聊聊美国房产的那些事儿！

1. 美国各大城市每月的租金：

拿一居室做个对比
*一居室：One-bedroom apartment

* NYC纽约: $1889/month
* Philadelphia 费城: $815/month
* Washington DC 华盛顿: $1275/month
* Boston波士顿：$1486/month

2. 美国房产销售人员的佣金：

* 佣金：Commission  /kəˈmɪʃn/
* 买房子佣金：on average between 5-6% of the home cost （一般房价的5-6%，还是蛮高的）
租房子佣金：one month’s rent（一个月的租金，这个和国内基本差不多）

中介费多少？

这样问：
How much is the intermediary fee/agent fee（中介费）?
*intermediary /ˌɪntərˈmiːdieri/  adi. 中间的

4.在美国，“房屋中介”是一个比较好的行业吗？

It is a solid job（稳定的工作），but it depends on：
* What area you’re working in ？ 你处在哪个区？
* How the economy is ？ 经济形式怎么样？

剧中有个人物叫985（毕业于名牌大学）,对于他去卖房子，他的妈妈很不满意。

BUT,

就像翩翩和Mary说的：行业无非贵贱，书也不会白读。任何行业做好，都需要很强能力的人。
所以，我们每个人都要努力，做到你所在行业的佼佼者（expert）！

1.No cap: For real. I mean it 
说真的，不跟你撒谎

* cap 本身是指帽子，
* No cap 这个词语在说唱歌曲中很常见，

300 thousand on my wrist ，no cap.花三十万买了个表，绝对不是吹的。
而且，这个词是从今年开始流行起来的！


2. Flex: using excessive amount of money
出血，花大价钱

这个词超好用！
比如，攒钱买了一只超贵的手表，可以这样用：
*I did some flexing. （我可出血了）
*I flexed on my watch.（我是花大价钱买的这块表）

3.BAE：before anyone else的首字母缩写
对亲密爱人的昵称，还可以说：the precious one

那么，Jerry有BAE么？（Jerry被突然问道，瞬间害羞，仓促应答，哈哈，音频中有答案 ）

4. Lit: It is cool, especially within parties
很燃！

* Lit 本身是 fire is burning 火在燃烧
* It’s lit 表示 we are having a good time 玩的很尽兴。
超级高频的词！当你参加完演唱会、Party时,别人问你怎么样，你都可以说It’s lit !

另外，It’s lit=It was fire (咦！It was fire是不是有语法错误？流行语嘛，通常都不太符合语法规律^-^）

但要注意：这和汉语中的“很火”是不！同！的！：
汉语中“很火”：It’s popular!

5.GOAT: Greatest of all time.
史上最佳 史上最强

* GOAT DEBATE：史上最强之争
* Who is the GOAT of basketball？谁是篮球史上最佳？
* Who is the GOAT of American football ？谁是美式足球史上最佳？

迈克尔·乔丹和 汤姆·布拉迪是Jerry心中篮球界和美式足球史上的最佳！那么，在篮球界，美式足球中，谁又是你心中的GOAT？欢迎在留言出写出你的答案！

GOAT的其他表达，

6.Peep: It means friends，comes from the word “people”
小伙伴

That peep over there.
Peep 既可以指我的小伙伴，还可以指我的小伙伴们。

7. Bruh: bro（brother)
兄弟

这有一个简化过程：
Brother 变成 bro
Bro 变成 bruh.

翩翩小课堂：英语中，如果一个音节不重读，通常元音会弱读成 “呃”音
举个栗子：I’m waiting for you (for 中元音O会弱读 “呃”音）

8. Dip: 
 
Dip本身指 蘸,但这个词有点小特别。要注意啦：不同的地区，会有不同的含义：
north east-美国的大东北 dip：to leave or go （走人，走着）
South-美国南方 dip: marijuana or drugs. (大麻，毒品）哇，这差别真是太大
所以，一定要注意说话的对象，来自哪里，免得产生误会。

9.Stan ：hardcore fan, to an obsessive harmful degree.
狂热粉

Stan的由来：

Stan是由美国说唱歌手埃米纳姆（Eminem）的一个狂热粉丝名叫Stan，由于没有一直收到自己偶像的回信，选择了自杀。Eminem为此以他的名字写了这首歌。

Stan的用法:
*作为verb动词: I stan him 我超爱他
*作为noun名词：I’m his stan (我是他的狂热粉）

Stan不仅仅是“铁粉”，“死忠粉”，还上升到了“狂热粉”。

在之前的节目中，我们讲到，is,am, are是弱爆的词，要将弱势句（passive sentences）变为生动句（active sentence）。这一期节目，我们给大家三条黄金法则，用上它们，你的句子定会文采斐然，熠熠生辉！

Rule 1：使用形容词和副词！

She sing

→(Beautiful )Mary sings (happily).

*给she一个名字，并选一个形容词描述she；

*给动词加副词，描述怎样唱。

Rule2：Add details 加细节

怎么加“细节”？超简单——— 5w1h 原则！

5W=who ,what ,when ,where, why

1H=how

Beautiful Mary sings happily.

→(During midnight),beautiful Mary sings happily (in the magic forest)( to wake the scary dragon).

在午夜时分，美丽的Mary在魔法森林里开心地唱歌，想要唤醒可怕的龙。

3.Change weak words to stronger words 将弱势词变为强有力的词

使用stronger words能直接呈现出一个scene（场景）。

1）同样表示“说”，你只说“say”吗？

Say是一个极为笼统的词汇，下面的词能展现一幅图片，所以是stronger words（强有力的词）

Assert，Claim，Exclaim，Whisper，Explain，Announce

2）同样地，go也是笼统词汇，下面这些强有力的词(stronger words)表示go更具体

Run，Transport，Walk，Move，Gallop，Crawl

Practice：

①Nena goes to school.

(Grumpy ) Nena，(an eight old years girl),(unfortunately )goes to (a private) school (through a bus)( every day).

②Jerry teaches.

(Every Saturday ) (muscular) Jerry ( passionately ) educates (English ) (at ASeat) ( to 3rd grade students) ( because he enjoys being with kids).

10.Mundane_Journey: That's all about the denotation and connotation of a given word, phrase, or sentence or even a text. In Chinese, for example, some traits or qualities of human being are given to pine, bamboo, plum（梅） and orchid（兰花）. We can try to empathize and get the hidden meaning, the contextual meaning.
*denotation /ˌdiːnoʊˈteɪʃn/ 外延意义（字面意思）
*connotation/ˌkɑːnəˈteɪʃn/ 暗含意义（深层意思）
英语文化中，也会赋予植物一些特质（traits or qualities）


*olive trees：橄榄树
圣经中，鸽子叼着橄榄枝回到诺亚方舟，表示洪水结束，平安到来。
*United Nations：联合国
*fig tree：无花果树（wealth and blessing）
无花果树，还有葡萄枝都是耶稣经常用到的比喻，就像好佛教里的菩提树一样。

If you meet someone for the first time, and he or she give you a gift, it will make you feel awkward.

对方可能会臆测: 你是想讨好我吗？

This can be something small, such as a candle and candies.

然而在西方国家，新人在结婚之前，他们会把想要的东西列出来。
If someone buys one ,no one else can buy it again.

2、When to give gifts？什么时候可以送礼物？
the main holidays like Christmas重大节日，比如圣诞节
the obvious times like birthdays 重要的日子，比如生日
when to someone’s home for a dinner party 去别人家吃饭参加派对
the time to welcome a new man 欢迎新人的加入
If a foreigner is joining your company or school, it’s nice to give them a welcoming gift.
如果有外国人加入公司或者新到一所学校，可以送小礼物以示友好。

Here is the rule:
ALWAYS give them a candle! 
送蜡烛就对了！

3、When not to give gifts?什么时候不要送礼物？
 on the first meeting 与人第一次见面的时候
It will be awkward unless you give them something not expensive.
最好不要送礼物；
要是很想表示友好的话，可以送一些不贵重的礼物，
比如Mary会送自己制作的小曲奇饼（cookies）
 on the first date 第一次约会的时候
千万不要送礼物！
It is old-fashioned to give chocolates or flowers.
送花儿、巧克力什么的已经过时了！

 on Thanksgiving 感恩节
They don’t give gifts on Thanksgiving day.在感恩节，他们是不送礼物的。
They just eat together and say thank you.
他们只是坐在一起吃吃饭，说一些感谢的话。

一、Gifts to NOT Give 不能送的礼物


1.Clothes OR accessories /æk'sɛsərɪz/ 配饰
衣服或者配饰
You don’t know the person’s size and style.
因为你不知道对方的尺码以及穿戴风格。
It’s too much of a guessing game.
这就像一个猜谜游戏。
Maybe these gifts end up gathering dust in the closet or being donated.
可能收到的衣服会在衣柜里布满灰尘，或者最后被捐赠出去。
这会让对方心生愧疚。


2.Things you have lying around the house
家中的闲置物品
They call this “regifting” .
把家中闲置物品当作礼物送人的行为叫作”regifting”（礼物转送）。
It’s really uncomfortable.
这会让人觉得不舒服。
It seems like you didn’t put a lot of thought into the gift 
而且看上去你好像没有用心去挑选礼物。


3.Hygiene /ˈhaɪdʒiːn/ products 卫生保健用品
deodorant /diːˈoʊdərənt/ 体香剂


facewash 面部清洁用品
......
These gifts give a message that： 
this person is smelly 
这个人身上有怪味
needs to do something about their acne or B.O.
需要注意一下他们的痘痘或者狐臭
*acne /ˈækni/ n. 粉刺
*B.O.=body odor 狐臭
If the soap is handmade and has good smell,it can be OK.
如果是手工皂并且味道好闻的话，送肥皂未尝不可。
Unless the person is close to you and you know what kind of products they like.
除非是很亲近的人，你懂得他们的喜好，不然千万不要送，
尤其不要送女人（女人对自己用的东西很挑剔的）


Perfume is OK.But it runs a risk of that person doesn't like the scent.
香水也许是可以的，但不能保证对方会喜欢你送的香水的味道。（有点冒险）

送礼物的一大原则
Here is A BIG RULE:
Not too much pressure！不要太贵重！ 


4.Self-improvement gifts 自我提升类礼物
health or diet books 健康保健书籍
weight loss or gym equipment 减肥或健身器材
There is a big culture difference between China and Western countries (especially America).
由于中西方文化的巨大差异（尤其是美国），可能在我们看来自我提升类的礼物可以送，但对他们来讲，这是一个禁忌（taboo） 。
Even between close friends or family , it’s considered rude to bring up the topic.
在西方国家，即便是最亲近的家人或者是朋友之间，谈论健康、体重话题也是粗鲁的。


*body positive movement 打破传统的对美的追求，接纳自己的身材


如果有人对你的身材不满，你可以霸气地耍一句：
It’s none of your business! 关卿何事！


二、Gifts to give 可以送的礼物

Mary的brother结婚的时候，Mary送了有中国特色的、为他们特意制作的画，
Mary的SIL（sister in law）还特意写了感谢信给Mary，感谢这份特殊的礼物。
The coolest things for them are objects that not many people get.
对外国友人来说，最赞的礼物就是有特殊寓意的小物件。
 
They want to eventually take them home.他们想把这些小物件带回去。 
put them on their shelves（shelf的复数） 放在架子上
they can look at them 时常看见这些东西
remember their time in China 回忆在中国的时光
share their stories with others 与朋友们分享小物件背后的故事
*tchotchke /'tʃɒtʃkə/ n. 小物件 （tchotchke是斯洛伐克语）


Teaching or sharing something from your own culture is a special gift.
传授分享中国文化是一种特别的礼物。


几周前，翩翩老师与我们外国同事喝茶时，向他们讲了茶文化，好学的Mary听得都入神了。很多人不知道该跟外国友人谈论什么话题，其实，你大可谈论一下中国文化，很多外国人都是对中国文化很着迷的。


2.Giving a gift according to their culture有他们文化特色的东西
Sometimes，it’s hard for them to live in China.
有时，对外国人来说，居住在异国他乡也是不易的。
It’s really easy to become homesick here.
他们也会有乡愁。
Sometimes it’d hard to find things on Taobao as a foreigner .
他们在淘宝上不是很容易找到自己想要的东西的。
如果你可以让他们尝一下他们家乡的味道，那必将是一份意义非凡的礼物。

哈哈，预警！！！这里有一碗来自Mary的狗粮，你要不要尝一下？！！小编先干为敬！

For Christmas，Mary gave black pudding imported from England to his English boyfriend.

在圣诞节的时候，Mary送他英国男朋友从英国进口来的黑布丁。Mary男友都freaked out（惊到了），特别惊喜。 

Although it means a lot for foreigners to receive gifts from their own home,it is not obligated to do so.

因为culture difference（文化差异），有时候送礼是一种offence（冒犯）。

1、Several types of gifts 礼物分类

①First meeting gift 见面礼
If you meet someone for the first time, and he or she give you a gift, it will make you feel awkward.
如果第一次见面就送别人礼物的话，会让人觉得尴尬。

对方可能会臆测: 你是想讨好我吗？

2、When to give gifts？什么时候可以送礼物？

If a foreigner is joining your company or school, it’s nice to give them a welcoming gift.
如果有外国人加入公司或者新到一所学校，可以送小礼物以示友好。

3、When not to give gifts?什么时候不要送礼物？

网易云音乐的小伙伴Richard留言给我们说，哎呀，我都出门上班4天了，你们两个还在讨论在家办公。而且Ta还告诉我们，到公司的第一件事就是要用酒精洗手，还有带新口罩。

所以呢，今天翩翩老师和 Mary就要来和大家一起聊一聊，复工这件大事。

1.To resume work： 复工
复工怎么说呢？
* 复工：
resume work
Go back to work

* 去公司复工：

Go back to the office to work
Resume the work at the office

非常实用的表达：

在未来某一天复工：
* I go back to work on + 未来的日子

I go back to work on Friday. 我周五复工
该在某天复工：
* I’m supposed to go back to work on + 日期. 
I’m supposed to go back to work on Friday.
我应该是周五复工（不确定）。

* I was supposed to go back to work on + 过去的日期. 
I was supposed to go back to work on last Friday.
我本来是该上周五上班的。

* push back and push back: 往后推了又推

* I’m grateful for it. 我很感恩。（很多人对推迟上班是充满感恩的，是不是你也是？）

2.What’s the general attitude of people returning to work?
大家对复工的态度是怎样的？
How do you feel about it?
你感受如何？

对于employer（雇主）来说，要承担更多的责任，因为要：
take certain measures 采取措施
* ensure employee’s safety保证员工的安全

一席目前是要求大家在家等update（新的通知），现在大家都在家办公，也很高效。

If you’ve gone back/are going back already, did you volunteer to go or do you feel like you don’t have a choice?
