Recently, we had some trouble with our front door lock. The deadbolt would unlock 98% of the way. But, the 2% that remained still made it impossible to enter our home. In today's podcast we use the word D-O-O-R as an acronym to discuss some of the issues that may be preventing someone from successfully passing through to the next goal on their keto journey.
00:00-03:17A 2% blockage is enough to lock you out of success
03:59-07:11 Discouragement There's a lot of emotion involved when you get to that point of "I've got to do something." We can be discouraged by past failures. It is intensified when we believe "nobody but me needs to do something." We can contemplate thoughts like "EVERYBODY else is getting by with eating whatever they want." Of course, that's not true. We only see what's on the outside.
07:12-10:35 Opinions Stop shopping your plan with everyone.
10:36-15:17 Overthinking Avoid analysis paralysis. We can find pro research and con research on any topic. Don't wait until all the researchers agree before you move forward, because that will never happen. You don't need a perfect understanding of keto before you more forward with it.
15:18-17:30 Regret Don't wait until the holidays are over to get started. It's ok if you've made mistakes on keto What can help unlock the door to keto?
17:31-19:42 Determination Your health is not negotiable. You can borrow from other people's determination.
19:43-22:36 Optimism Be proud that you are being proactive A cheerleader needs to be optimistic Don't just celebrate the "big wins"
22:37-25:20 Opportunity It is a blessing to have an answer to the question, "What should I be eating?" We have an opportunity to change the world one ribeye at a time. We can change the dialogue
25:21-30:00 Realistic Goals Don't let a magazine headline set your goals Watch out for undermining tracking tools Under-promise and overdeliver Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound.

How do you keep keto interesting? In today's Keto Audit, we chat with Marc, who is relatively new to keto. But, he's already experiencing some incredible results. Eating delicious food and feeling satiated has him hooked on keto. But, how can he be proactive when it comes to maintaining enthusiasm for this way of eating?
"I'm a dedicated eater, whether it's good or bad. If I'm eating good, I don't want to eat bad. If I'm eating bad, I don't want to eat good."
1:42-5:43 Marc's journey to keto I had to change the way I was living. What do diabetics eat to stay healthy? Reviewing college diet journals from college to find out what foods don't work. Phasing out snacks, transitioning to keto. "I had not had satiety in decades." A1C dropped from 7 to 5.5 Triglycerides dropped from 245 to 153. Blood glucose dropped from 154 to 111. It cut my grocery bill in half. Lost 42 pounds in 90 days.

12:56-14:47 Incorporating exercise Resist the urge to overexercise when you first start. Slowly build up so you don't tear up your joints. Dad inspires me at the age of 80.

31:13-35:16 Eliminating foods that don't agree with me. The base of keto is good for everyone in the household. The keto community helps you not feel alone.
37:34-42:36: Finding better quality ingredietns Learn to read ingredient labels Update your knowledge base Working with your doctor and trusting the process
42:47-45:20: Keeping your carbs as low as possible You have to do your research.
