De: Eines trüben, kalten Tags in Berlin packten Anna und Klaus ihre dicken Jacken aus dem Schrank.
En: One gloomy, cold day in Berlin, Anna and Klaus unpacked their thick jackets from the closet.

De: "Lass uns zum Weihnachtsmarkt gehen, Klaus!
En: "Let's go to the Christmas market, Klaus!"

De: " schlug Anna vor.
En: Anna suggested.

De: Klaus stimmte zu und beide machten sich auf den Weg.
En: Klaus agreed, and both set off.

De: Die Lichter funkelten hell, es roch nach Lebkuchen und Tannen.
En: The lights sparkled brightly, and there was a smell of gingerbread and evergreens.

De: In ihren warmen Jacken fühlten sich Anna und Klaus trotz der Kälte wohl.
En: Despite the cold, Anna and Klaus felt comfortable in their warm jackets.

De: Sie schlenderten zwischen den vielen Buden hindurch, hielten in den Händen dampfende Tassen mit heißem Glühwein.
En: They strolled among the many stalls, holding steaming cups of hot mulled wine in their hands.

De: Plötzlich sah Anna etwas.
En: Suddenly, Anna saw something.

De: "Schau mal, Klaus!
En: "Look, Klaus!

De: Da ist ein Stand mit Weihnachtsmützen!
En: There's a stand with Christmas hats!"

De: " rief sie.
En: she exclaimed.

De: Klaus schaute hinüber und sah einen kleinen Stand, der voller rot-weißer Weihnachtsmützen war.
En: Klaus looked over and saw a small stand filled with red and white Christmas hats.

De: Für jede verkauftete Mütze würde Geld an Menschen in Not gespendet werden.
En: Money from each hat sold would be donated to people in need.

De: Klaus machte eine Grimasse.
En: Klaus made a face.

De: Er mochte keine Mützen.
En: He didn't like hats.

De: Sie juckten immer auf seinem Kopf.
En: They always itched on his head.

De: Aber er wusste auch, dass es eine gute Sache wäre, eine Mütze zu kaufen.
En: But he also knew that it would be a good thing to buy a hat.

De: "Ich mag keine Mützen, Anna," sagte er.
En: "I don't like hats, Anna," he said.

De: "Ich weiß, dass du sie nicht magst," antwortete Anna, "aber es ist für einen guten Zweck.
En: "I know you don't like them," Anna replied, "but it's for a good cause."

De: "Klaus dachte nach.
En: Klaus thought for a moment.

De: Er blickte auf die Mützen, die fröhlichen Menschen um ihn herum und dann wieder auf Anna.
En: He looked at the hats, the joyful people around him, and then back at Anna.

De: Sie lächelte ihn an, passte eine der Mützen auf ihren Kopf und lachte.
En: She smiled at him, put one of the hats on her head, and laughed.

De: "Wie sehe ich aus?
En: "How do I look?"

De: " fragte sie.
En: she asked.

De: Klaus konnte nicht anders als zu lächeln.
En: Klaus couldn't help but smile.

De: "Du siehst toll aus," antwortete er.
En: "You look great," he replied.

De: Und mit diesen Worten griff er nach einer Mütze und setzte sie sich auf den Kopf.
En: And with those words, he reached for a hat and put it on his head.

De: Sie juckte ein wenig, aber das war ihm egal.
En: It itched a little, but he didn't mind.

De: So gingen Anna und Klaus mit ihren neuen Weihnachtsmützen durch den Markt.
En: So Anna and Klaus walked through the market with their new Christmas hats.

De: Sie lachten und freuten sich über ihre glänzenden Mützen und die gute Sache, für die sie standen.
En: They laughed and enjoyed their shiny hats and the good cause they represented.

De: Klaus hatte eine Mütze auf, aber er fühlte sich gut dabei.
En: Klaus had a hat on, and he felt good about it.
