Story Transcript:

En: Madrid, city of dreams and tapas.

En: For María and Alejandro, it was their playground.

En: Although different as day and night, the spark of friendship had ignited between them.

En: On a hot day, they decided to have lunch together at a bar near Puerta del Sol.

En: María, a rather shy girl with a wide smile, chose a dish that sounded familiar to her.

En: She thought she remembered the smooth and appetizing taste.

Es: Pero, oh, cuál sería su sorpresa.
En: But oh, what a surprise it would be.

En: "Alejandro, I ordered snails," said María, paling as she looked at her plate.

En: Alejandro, a cheerful guy with a brilliant sense of humor, couldn't help but burst into laughter.

En: "María, I thought you knew what you were ordering," he joked.

Es: Pero María no se reía.
En: But María wasn't laughing.

En: She felt embarrassed, foolish for not reading the menu properly.

Es: Los caracoles parecían estar sonriendo burlonamente.
En: The snails seemed to be smirking mockingly.

En: Determined not to let a plate of snails disrupt her day, María gathered her courage.

En: She picked one up with her fork and examined it.

En: Alejandro stopped laughing, now watching her with amazement.

Es: "¿Vas a comerlo?
En: "Are you going to eat it?"

Es: " preguntó Alejandro.
En: asked Alejandro.

Es: "¿Por qué no?
En: "Why not?"

En: replied María with a shrug, taking a small bite.

En: The expression on her face was impossible to read.

En: Alejandro, however, kept his mouth open in disbelief.

En: And yes, María continued devouring the snails one by one, proving to Alejandro that her initial laughter had not crushed her spirit.

En: It was Alejandro who ended up embarrassed in the end, not even having the courage to try one.

En: With a mischievous smile, María picked up one of the small snails with her fork and offered it to Alejandro.

En: The young man, now red as a ripe tomato, averted his gaze from the snail and waved his hand, giving up the test.

Es: Ese día, ambos aprendieron una lección.
En: That day, they both learned a lesson.

En: Alejandro learned not to underestimate María and her bravery in the face of adversity, no matter how small.

En: And María learned that mistakes can turn into victories if one dares to confront them.

En: Since that day, whenever María and Alejandro pass by that bar near Puerta del Sol, María smiles openly and sincerely, and Alejandro avoids looking at the menu, especially the snails section.
