Uk: Було холодно того зимового ранку в Києві.
En: It was cold that winter morning in Kyiv.

Uk: Сніг покривав дахи будинків, і хоч радіатори в гуртожитку гріли, холод добралося до самого серця.
En: Snow covered the rooftops, and even though the radiators in the dormitory were heating, the cold reached right to the heart.

Uk: У коридорах Київського політехнічного інституту метушилися студенти, але в кімнаті Олександра панувала тиша.
En: In the corridors of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, students bustled about, but in Oleksandr's room, there was silence.

Uk: Він лежав під ковдрою, забутий світом.
En: He lay under the blanket, forgotten by the world.

Uk: Його мучила застуда, і це трохи гальмувало план Олександра.
En: A cold afflicted him, and it somewhat hindered Oleksandr's plan.

Uk: Олександр, студент інженерного факультету, був завжди зосередженим і старанним.
En: Oleksandr, a student of the engineering faculty, was always focused and diligent.

Uk: Але тепер прийшла хвороба, яка стала для нього великою перешкодою.
En: But now an illness came, which became a major obstacle for him.

Uk: Він не хотів звертатися по допомогу, бо вважав, що зможе впоратися з усім самотужки.
En: He didn't want to ask for help, believing he could manage everything on his own.

Uk: В він був зосереджений на тому, щоб довести собі та іншим, що він здатний сам вирішити всі свої проблеми.
En: He was determined to prove to himself and others that he could solve all his problems by himself.

Uk: Усе змінилося, коли в двері постукала його сусідка по кімнаті Ірина.
En: Everything changed when his roommate Iryna knocked on the door.

Uk: Вона знала про стан Олександра і вирішила допомогти.
En: She knew about Oleksandr's condition and decided to help.

Uk: "Олександре," - сказала Ірина, тримаючи в руках теплий чай з медом та лимоном, "ти маєш відпочити.
En: "Oleksandr," said Iryna, holding warm tea with honey and lemon in her hands, "you need to rest.

Uk: Я допоможу тобі з лекціями, а ти відновиш сили.
En: I will help you with the lectures, and you recover your strength."

Uk: " Олександр вагаючись, але погодився.
En: Oleksandr, hesitating, agreed.

Uk: Йому не хотілося, щоб Ірина помітила його слабкість, але він розумів, що відпочинок необхідний.
En: He didn't want Iryna to notice his weakness, but he understood that rest was necessary.

Uk: Тим часом наближався День святого Валентина.
En: Meanwhile, Valentine's Day was approaching.

Uk: Усі в гуртожитку готувалися до заходу, і Олександр дуже хотів бути там.

Uk: Його мрією було вразити Майю, дівчину з навчальної групи, яка йому подобалася.
