Story Transcript:

Uk: Світло ранку м'яко опускалося на засніжені вершини Карпат.
En: The morning light gently descended on the snow-capped peaks of the Karpaty.

Uk: Олена стояла біля вікна дерев'яного будиночка, пильно вдихаючи прохолоду зимового повітря.
En: Olena stood by the window of the wooden cabin, deeply inhaling the chill of the winter air.

Uk: Вона з другом Ярославом та його братом Данилом приїхала сюди на відпочинок перед святом Водохреща.
En: She had come here with her friend Yaroslav and his brother Danylo for a getaway before the celebration of Vodokhreshcha.

Uk: Хоча дівчина і мала трохи страху перед дикою природою, але твердо вирішила, що цього разу все буде інакше.
En: Although she had some fear of the wild nature, she firmly decided that this time would be different.

Uk: Вночі почався сніговій.
En: The snowstorm began at night.

Uk: Ще сонячного ранку погода несподівано змінилася, і зараз важкі сніжинки покривали все навколо.
En: The weather had unexpectedly changed from the sunny morning, and now heavy snowflakes were covering everything around.

Uk: Коли вони виходили з будиночка, Олена повела своїх друзів уздовж знайомої доріжки.
En: As they left the cabin, Olena led her friends along the familiar path.

Uk: "Тримайтеся поруч!
En: "Stay close!"

Uk: ", застерігала вона, стараючись говорити чітко і підбадьорливо.
En: she warned, trying to speak clearly and encouragingly.

Uk: Сніг швидко насувався, вітри дували все сильніше.
En: The snow was quickly advancing, the winds blowing stronger and stronger.

En: Their skis cut through the smooth slope, but as the snow covered the ground, it became increasingly difficult to discern the path.

Uk: Ярослав і Данило трималися разом, зате через хвилину вони вже нечітко бачили Олену.
En: Yaroslav and Danylo stayed together, but within a minute they could barely see Olena.

Uk: "Олено, ми відстаємо!
En: "Olena, we're falling behind!"

Uk: " - кричав Ярослав, коли білий заметіль закрутивсь на їхніх очах.
En: shouted Yaroslav as the white blizzard whirled before their eyes.

Uk: Олена зупинилася, слухаючи оберненого до неї Ярослава.
En: Olena stopped, listening to Yaroslav calling to her.

Uk: Довкола все ставало розпливчатим, але вона знала один точно знайомий орієнтир.
En: Everything around was becoming blurry, but she knew one definite landmark.

Uk: Це був невеликий дерев'яний хрест, що стояв на перехресті лижних маршрутів.
En: It was a small wooden cross standing at the intersection of the ski trails.

Uk: "Лідерський дух не поступається", подумала собі дівчина.
En: "The spirit of leadership does not yield," the girl thought to herself.

Uk: Вперше загрозливо тремо чула дитячий страх перед самотністю, але рішучість не підводила.
En: For the first time, she felt the childhood fear of loneliness threateningly tremble, but her determination didn’t waver.

Uk: Коли вона розгледіла серед снігу тінь будиночка і знала, що це саме те місце, з якого їм і треба було йти далі, серце шалено билося.
En: When she spotted among the snow the shadow of a cabin and knew it was the exact place they needed to proceed from, her heart was racing.

Uk: Вона дісталася пункту призначення.
En: She had reached the destination.

Uk: Всередині, в теплі, чекала мить сезонної радості.
En: Inside, in the warmth, awaited a moment of seasonal joy.

Uk: Вогонь потріскував в печі, а з кухні доносився запах духмяної узвару.
En: The fire crackled in the stove, and from the kitchen came the aroma of fragrant uzvar.

Uk: Але Олена не могла насолоджуватися, доки не переконалася, що її друзі в безпеці.
En: But Olena couldn’t enjoy it until she was sure her friends were safe.

Uk: Вони повинні були прибути з хвилини на хвилину.
En: They should arrive any minute.

Uk: Через деякий час що видавався вічністю, двері раптом розчинилися, і усміхнені обличчя Ярослава і Данила з'явилися в дверному проєм.
En: After a time that seemed like an eternity, the door suddenly opened, and the smiling faces of Yaroslav and Danylo appeared in the doorway.

Uk: Прийнявши їх в обійми, Олена усміхнулася.
En: Embracing them, Olena smiled.

Uk: Тепер вона була не просто товаришем, але впевненим лідером.
En: Now she was not just a companion, but a confident leader.

Uk: Її внутрішній страх розчинився в сніговій бурі, залишивши за собою впевненість, що в будь-якій бурі можна знайти правильну стежину додому.
En: Her internal fear had dissolved in the snowstorm, leaving behind the assurance that in any storm, the right path home can be found.

Uk: І в день світлого свята Водохреща вони радісно відзначали цю перемогу.
