Fr: Sur la jolie terrasse d'un café parisien, il y avait trois amis.
En: On the pretty terrace of a Parisian café, there were three friends.

Fr: Camille, Pierre et Amélie étaient leur nom.
En: Camille, Pierre, and Amélie were their names.

Fr: Ils étaient venus pour profiter de l'air et de la belle vue.
En: They had come to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful view.

Fr: Le soleil dorait l'esplanade devant eux.
En: The sun was gilding the esplanade in front of them.

Fr: C'est à Paris, une ville très belle.
En: It's in Paris, a very beautiful city.

Fr: Pierre a essayé de commander un croissant.
En: Pierre tried to order a croissant.

Fr: On dit que les croissants des cafés parisiens sont délicieux.
En: It is said that croissants from Parisian cafes are delicious.

Fr: Mais Pierre a fait une drôle de chose.
En: But Pierre did a funny thing.

Fr: Il ne parlait pas très bien le français.
En: He didn't speak French very well.

Fr: Alors, au lieu d'un croissant, il a demandé un kangourou.
En: So, instead of a croissant, he asked for a kangaroo.

Fr: "Un kangourou, s'il vous plaît," a-t-il dit.
En: "A kangaroo, please," he said.

Fr: "Un quoi ?
En: "A what?"

Fr: " a demandé le serveur, surpris.
En: asked the server, surprised.

Fr: "Un kangourou?
En: "A kangaroo?"

Fr: " les autres clients ont commencé à rire.
En: the other customers started to laugh.

Fr: Les amis de Pierre aussi.
En: Pierre's friends did too.

Fr: Pierre était un peu confus.
En: Pierre was a bit confused.

Fr: Les kangourous, on les trouve en Australie, pas en France.
En: Kangaroos are found in Australia, not in France.

Fr: Camille et Amélie ont aidé Pierre.
En: Camille and Amélie helped Pierre.

Fr: Elles ont vite commandé un croissant pour lui.
En: They quickly ordered a croissant for him.

Fr: "Pas un kangourou, Pierre," ont-elles dit.
En: "Not a kangaroo, Pierre," they said.

Fr: "On dit 'un croissant'.
En: "We say 'a croissant'."

Fr: " Pierre a commencé à rire aussi.
En: Pierre started to laugh too.

Fr: Maintenant, il comprend.
En: Now he understood.

Fr: Il a dit "D'accord, un croissant, pas un kangourou.
En: He said, "Okay, a croissant, not a kangaroo."

Fr: "Le serveur est revenu avec un gros croissant doré.
En: The server came back with a large golden croissant.

Fr: Il l'a donné à Pierre qui a senti son odeur.
En: He gave it to Pierre who smelled its aroma.

Fr: "Mmm, ça sent bon," a dit Pierre.
En: "Mmm, it smells good," said Pierre.

Fr: Camille et Amélie ont hoché la tête.
En: Camille and Amélie nodded.

Fr: "Oui, les croissants ici sont les meilleurs," ont-elles dit.
En: "Yes, the croissants here are the best," they said.

Fr: Pierre a mangé son croissant avec un grand sourire sur son visage.
En: Pierre ate his croissant with a big smile on his face.

Fr: "Délicieux," a-t-il dit.
En: "Delicious," he said.

Fr: Et tous les trois ont ri encore.
En: And all three of them laughed again.

Fr: L'après-midi était chaud et ensoleillé.
En: The afternoon was warm and sunny.

Fr: Les amis étaient contents et riaient.
En: The friends were happy and laughing.

Fr: Et tout le café riait aussi.
En: And the whole café was laughing too.

Fr: La tentative de Pierre à commander en français n'était pas parfaite.
En: Pierre's attempt to order in French wasn't perfect.

Fr: Mais cela a donné à tout le monde un moment de rire.
En: But it gave everyone a moment of laughter.

Fr: Et ce rire a rendu leur journée encore plus belle.
En: And that laughter made their day even more beautiful.

Fr: Le français n'est pas une langue facile.
En: French isn't an easy language.

Fr: Mais cela ne fait rien.
En: But that doesn't matter.

Fr: C'est tout ce qui donne du charme à cette belle journée sur la terrasse d'un café à Paris.
En: It's what adds charm to this beautiful day on the terrace of a café in Paris.
