In Episode 280 I sit down once again with my friend Jeff Ottele, retired Navy EOD. Jeff first joined me back in Episode 239, where he walked us through the physical and mental gauntlet of becoming an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. This time, we go much deeper.

Now officially out of uniform, Jeff opens up about the real battles that follow military service — learning to navigate civilian life, rediscovering purpose outside the Navy, and the difficult process of finding identity beyond the job. We discuss faith and personal redemption, what it means to lead from humility, and how shared values — not politics — can unify America.

Jeff also shares his honest experiences re-entering the workforce: interviews, résumés, communication, and all the awkward firsts that come with starting over. It's raw, human, and ultimately hopeful — a conversation about growing through change rather than being broken by it.
