5. Do you understand state and local criminal background check prohibitions?

For a number of years, the focus has been on customer satisfaction to the detriment of employee well-being. Now, we shift the focus to employee satisfaction and watch that translate to a better experience for both employees and customers. 1. On a scale of 1-10, how supported do you feel by your manager?
2. Do you feel like your manager cares about your overall well-being?
3. What is the one thing your manager can start or stop doing that would help you do a better job?

Questions around feedback:

1. Are you satisfied with how often you get feedback from your manager?
2. Does the feedback you receive at work help you grow and develop?
3. If you have feedback for your manager, do you feel comfortable sharing it?

Questions around company alignment:

1. Do you understand how your role contributes to the company’s mission?
2. Are you confident that your organization is able to reach its objectives?
3. Are the values of the company aligned with your personal values?

Questions around happiness and satisfaction:

1. On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you in your day-to-day work?
2. Do you feel like you have a healthy work-life balance?
3. What is one thing your manager, team or leadership do to make you happier at work?

Questions around organizational culture and the workplace environment:

1. Do you have all the resources you need to do your job effectively?
2. How does your team’s behavior reflect your values day to day?
3. What are the one thing you like the most and one thing you like the least about your organization’s culture?

We know that micromanagement has a negative connotation and let’s face it, no one wants to be micromanaged. This week’s episode of the Scaleocity Works podcast is about the 6 step interview framework to build your best team!

Brian shares what you need to induce in your interviews as well as the tools you should have in place to ensure your overall interview process goes well.

The 6 steps Brian covers in this episode are:

1. Have a strong introduction by setting aside time to build rapport and allow the candidate to adjust to the environment. Remember- this is a conversation, not an interrogation.
2. Begin with some open-ended questions that allow the candidate to choose the details they wish to share about their work history. This will tell you a lot more than you think.
3. Utilize competency-based interview questions to assess the level of competencies needed to be successful in this position.
4. Ask the candidate for input or how they have prepared for this role in particular. Consider both work and personal experiences.
5. Pay attention to questions and clues that will help you determine the candidate's attitude towards feedback, challenges, and adversity in the workplace.
6. Understand the type of person you’re looking to bring into your organization so you can better gauge the candidate’s career fit for both your benefit and the benefit of their career path.

Having an interview framework is the first critical step to hiring the best team possible.

I want you to do a quick self-reflection and think back to how you felt the last time you ended your work day. Were you stressed? Did you feel tense from the day?
