Dr. Ashurina Ream (known as @psychedmommy everywhere) is back on the podcast today. Dr. Ream is a psychologist who is certified in perinatal mental health.
We covered SO many important topics in this interview. We spent the first half of the podcast talking about body image- diving into specifics about why many women struggle with this and what you can do to start improving yours. Before focusing on perinatal mental health- Dr. Ream specialized in helping people with eating disorders- so she brought a ton of valuable insight into the conversation. We also cover miscarriage- something that SO many women go through, but a topic that isn't talked about often. Lastly, we finish up with the overwhelm of motherhood and what you can do about it.
Hope you enjoy this episode- it was an incredible and important conversation.

Elicia Shepard joins the podcast again and brings a real take on her life as a stay-at-home mama. Her vulnerability with topics like isolation in the pandemic, sex and intimacy struggles in the early baby years, and finding purpose outside of motherhood were inspiring. This episode helps to build a bridge between mothers who work outside of the home and those who stay home with their children and we hope to continue to bridge this gap through conversations like this one.
Thank you Elicia for your words and we hope you all enjoy the episode!

Chasity from @momfully.you joins us on the podcast today. We dove into SO many important mom conversations. Chasity calls the link between self-care and mom guilt a "toxic relationship" and helps us understand why we need to make them break up and make sure we are caring for ourselves. She outlined what it looks like to operate from your values and achieve a "you do you" mentality. We dove into anxiety and how you can start to take anxiety's coat off.
Many of the things covered are what mamas need to hear right now were covered and Chasity's information and delivery are like a big heart hug. You don't want to miss this one mamas! Xo.

We live in a culture that loves positivity- people tend to value, respect, and admire it. But what happens if we're too positive? It can become toxic.
If we start to suppress or talk ourselves out of any negative emotion we come across- we aren't allowing ourselves the full human experience.
Today, we dive into a lot of details about toxic positivity- what it is and why it can be a problem. We chat about the ways that we're working through it and what has helped us on that journey.

In this episode, we discuss yellow flags. We all have them. Those moments in time when you aren't feeling yourself- maybe you're less patient with your kiddos, you're quicker to anger with your partner, you're feeling overstimulated to the point that you need to put on headphones.
This continues to be a challenging time for women- in a lot of ways. So many of us are feeling stretched thin and without our normal support nets.
Today, we focus on how to recognize your yellow flags and reactions in order to change course OR figure out what you need more or less of.
Oftentimes- you aren't an angry partner or an impatient mother- you are just not getting the support or care that YOU need to function your best.
We're right there with you and honored to bring this important conversation to light today.

Our husbands Drew and Colin make their fourth appearance on the podcast. We love having the men on because every story has two sides and our listeners always get to hear our take. We love their honesty and vulnerability as they tackle what is challenging about dad life and partnerships during this stage of having little ones. Our goal is to let other couples know that they aren't alone in their struggles- we all have them.

Sex therapist Vanessa Marin ( @vanessamarintherapy ) is back on the podcast today. Her first episode (episode 21) was the most listened to episode of 2020...and in this one she brings the SAME goodness.
Sex and intimacy are a big part of relationships, but this information can feel underserved for those in long-term relationships. Sometimes as couples, we can let this important piece fall to the wayside as we try to do ALL the things (motherhood, working, keeping up with the house, trying to make sure everyone is fed, etc. etc.).
Today, Vanessa helps remind us why sex is important. Not just for your partner- but for YOU. She dives into questions about female sex drive, how to make sure intimacy doesn't just feel like another demand, and how to start to reconnect to this part of your relationship.
You can join us for Vanessa's 30 day sex challenge HERE!
