En: Most of all, he wanted to find new friends and be accepted.

Da: "Sofie!"
En: "Sofie!"

Da: råbte en stemme.
En: a voice called out.

En: It was Emil, a longtime resident who walked over to the smiling Sofie, the neighborhood's social butterfly.

Da: Emil var en mand af tradition.

En: Sofie waved Mikkel over and said, "Mikkel, come here.

Da: Mød folk!"
En: Meet people!"

En: He didn't want to seem weak by always staying close to Sofie.

Da: Men hendes smil gav ham mod.
En: But her smile gave him courage.

En: Together they walked over to a group where Emil stood in the middle with a glass of beer in his hand.

En: Conversations flowed, and soon toasts were made.

Da: Mikkel følte sig stadig lidt udenfor.
En: Mikkel still felt a bit out of place.

En: But as the hours passed, he gathered the courage to make himself noticed.

En: He thought of something he could share.

En: "I would like to tell a story," Mikkel suddenly said as the toast went around.

En: People listened, and Emil turned to him with curiosity.

En: "When I moved in, I noticed the large oak tree in front of my door.

En: It made me think of old family places in the forest where we always gathered."

Da: Historien ramte en nerve.
En: The story struck a chord.

Da: Folk smilede, og Emil nikkede anerkendende.
En: People smiled, and Emil nodded approvingly.

Da: "Det egetræ," sagde Emil, "har stået her i generationer.
En: "That oak tree," Emil said, "has stood here for generations.

Da: Det binder os sammen."
En: It binds us together."

Da: Efter festen gik Mikkel langsomt hen til Emil.
En: After the party, Mikkel slowly walked over to Emil.

Da: Uden at tøve rakte Emil hånden frem.
En: Without hesitation, Emil extended his hand.

En: "Welcome to the neighborhood, Mikkel," he said with a sincere smile.

En: Sofie came over and put an arm around Mikkel.

Da: "Godt gået.
En: "Well done.

Da: Du klarede det selv.
En: You did it yourself.

En: Next time, you should come to our little dinner party."

Da: Mikkel nikkede taknemmeligt.
