Story Transcript:

En: The spring sun streamed in through the large office windows and swept over Stockholm.

En: In the modern office, Lars was sitting at his desk.

En: He was surrounded by bursts of laughter and various small pranks from his colleagues.

En: It was the first of April, and there was an invisible thread of anticipation in the air.

En: Lars was a diligent worker, but his thoughts often drifted away to the next job meeting or report that needed to be submitted.

En: Sometimes he could feel like an outsider in the lively office teasing.

En: He wished so badly to understand the jokes and maybe, just maybe, one day actually take part in them.

En: This morning, Lars decided to strike back.

En: Sure, he might not be the most humorous person, but today would be different.

Sv: Han hade märkt att hans kaffekopp verkade blandas om varje morgon i veckan innan.
En: He had noticed that his coffee cup seemed to be swapped every morning the week before.

En: He was sure that Eva and Björn were behind it.

En: He decided to reverse the joke by switching back to regular coffee himself.

Sv: Veckan passerade i en märklig dvala.
En: The week passed by in a strange daze.

En: Lars felt energyless and couldn't put his finger on why.

En: Maybe he hadn't succeeded with his prank?

En: Finally, he got tired of it and invited the entire office to a dramatic gathering over morning coffee.

En: Lars stood up and tapped a spoon against his coffee mug to get the attention of his audience.

En: "I know what you all have been doing," he began, and many curious faces turned towards him.

En: He was about to explain his big revelation when Eva smiled and pointed to his coffee.

Sv: "Lars," sa hon, skrattandes lätt.
En: "Lars," she said, chuckling lightly.

Sv: "Det där har du gjort själv!
En: "You've done that yourself!

Sv: Det har bara varit koffeinfritt hela tiden."
En: It's been decaf the whole time."

Sv: Hela kontoret brast ut i skratt.
En: The entire office burst into laughter.

Sv: Lars blev först generad, men hans självpåtagna allvar smälte snart bort i bullrande skratt.
En: Lars was initially embarrassed, but his self-imposed seriousness soon melted away in the roaring laughter.

En: For the first time, Lars felt that he truly was a part of the team.

En: He realized immediately: sometimes it takes laughing at your own mistakes to truly fit in.

En: He smiled, satisfied to have built these bridges to his colleagues.

En: This spring day, he left the office with a lighter feeling, ready to embrace whatever the April joke might bring in the future.
