Story Transcript:

Fr: Il était une fois un garçon nommé Pierre qui vivait à Paris.
En: Once upon a time there was a boy named Pierre who lived in Paris.

Fr: Un jour, il a invité une fille nommée Amélie pour un rendez-vous romantique dans un restaurant chic.
En: One day he invited a girl named Amélie for a romantic date at a fancy restaurant.

Fr: Il voulait vraiment impressionner Amélie, alors il a commandé des escargots.
En: He really wanted to impress Amélie, so he ordered snails.

Fr: Cependant, quand il a essayé d'attraper un escargot avec sa fourchette, il l'a accidentellement jeté en l'air, envoyant des escargots dans toutes les directions.
En: However, when he tried to grab a snail with his fork, he accidentally threw it in the air, sending snails flying in all directions.

Fr: Pierre était mortifié et rougissait comme une tomate.
En: Pierre was mortified and blushed like a tomato.

Fr: Il a vu un acteur célèbre sur la plage et a décidé de prétendre qu'ils étaient les meilleurs amis depuis des années.
En: He saw a famous actor on the beach and decided to pretend they had been best friends for years.

Fr: Cependant, quand Jacques s'est vanté au célèbre acteur qu'ils se connaissaient très bien, l'acteur n'a pas reconnu Jacques du tout et a continué son chemin.
En: However, when Jacques bragged to the famous actor that they knew each other very well, the actor did not recognize Jacques at all and continued on his way.

Fr: Jacques était confus et humilié.
En: Jacques was confused and humiliated.

Fr: Le jour suivant, François a commandé un expresso fort dans un café à Marseille.
En: The next day, François ordered a strong espresso from a café in Marseille.

Fr: Une fois qu'il l'a reçu, il était tellement excité qu'il a accidentellement renversé l'expresso sur lui-même, renversant une grande partie de la tasse sur ses vêtements.
En: Once he received it, he was so excited that he accidentally spilled the espresso on himself, spilling a large portion of the cup on his clothes.

Fr: Heureusement, un habitant aimable est venu à sa rencontre et l'a aidé à nettoyer le café renversé et à sécher ses vêtements.
En: Luckily, a kind local came up to him and helped him clean up the spilled coffee and dry his clothes.

Fr: François était reconnaissant et a acheté un café pour l'habitant en remerciement.
En: Francois was grateful and bought a coffee for the local as a thank you.

En: That same evening, Marie was at a costume ball at Versailles.

Fr: Elle portait une robe longue et magnifique et essayait d'agir comme une dame royale.
En: She wore a long and gorgeous dress and tried to act like a royal lady.

Fr: Cependant, lorsqu'elle a essayé de faire une révérence gracieuse à un noble, elle a trébuché sur sa robe et est tombée dans une pose embarrassante.
En: However, when she tried to bow gracefully to a nobleman, she tripped over her dress and fell into an awkward pose.

Fr: Tout le monde a ri, sauf le noble qui l'a aidée à se relever et a agrandi son sourire charmeur.
En: Everyone laughed except the nobleman who helped her up and widened her charming smile.
