Fr: Pierre et Sophie étaient en vacances à Paris, la ville de l'amour.
En: Pierre and Sophie were on vacation in Paris, the city of love.

Fr: Ils avaient décidé de passer la soirée dans un petit bistro français.
En: They had decided to spend the evening in a small French bistro.

Fr: Pierre était ravi de commander de la nourriture authentique française.
En: Pierre was delighted to order authentic French food.

Fr: Mais quand il a vu "escargots" sur le menu, il a pensé que c'était une pâtisserie française.
En: But when he saw "escargots" on the menu, he thought it was a French pastry.

Fr: "Je vais prendre les escargots, s'il vous plaît", a-t-il commandé.
En: "I'll take the snails, please," he ordered.

Fr: Le serveur a regardé Pierre avec surprise mais a acquiescé.
En: The waiter looked at Pierre in surprise but nodded.

Fr: Sophie a été surprise quand les escargots ont été placés devant Pierre.
En: Sophie was surprised when the snails were placed in front of Pierre.

Fr: Elle a essayé de ne pas rire alors que Pierre lutta pour les manger.
En: She tried not to laugh as Pierre struggled to eat them.

Fr: "Pierre, les escargots sont des animaux gluants", a-t-elle dit.
En: "Pierre, snails are slimy animals," she said.
