Dana and Cristina discuss how to reframe movement and rebuilding your relationship with exercise. What happens when you want to use movement as a tool to support your mental and physical health, but it's difficult because of your mentality towards exercise and perfectionism? Exercise is a really complicated health-promoting behavior to integrate and/or step away from, especially when we have connected exercise with body size. In this episode, Dana and Cristina have very different perspectives on how to work through our relationship with exercise, and practical tips on how to work towards exercise neutrality. For some of us, we're still working on this - and that's okay!!

We're digging deep into fermented foods, prebiotics, and post-biotics, and why fermented foods are so integral for gut health. What should we be looking for in products that actually makes fermented foods beneficial? Are there ingredients in some kombucha products that aren't actually the best for gut health? **disclaimer: if having kombucha or any kind of fermented food consistently makes your gut feel worse, there's something going on there! Cristina and Dana do a deep dive on: "what is healthy, and what is healthism? This episode is an invitation to dig into what we think about health. How do we define healthy for ourselves, and where does that language come from? What are the assumptions behind our beliefs about health? We talk about how health and health-promoting behaviors exist on a spectrum; where healthism and judgment come into play, and how 'healthy' can become a toxic identity.

Brenna O'Malley, a Registered Dietitian and the Founder of The Wellful, joins Dana and Cristina today to talk about how to know if your health journey is actually healthy, and red flags on your health journey. How do we navigate the balance between adding in health-promoting behaviors in a neutral way, and those behaviors coming from outside pressure and becoming obsessive? We also discuss how if you feel like you gain weight whenever you're not obsessively monitoring what you eat and sticking to your exercise plan, it's likely a sign that those rules are not healthy for you & that you're trying to keep your body in an extreme environment it can't maintain.

This week, we discuss how the way set point theory is used in healthcare and the ED recovery community is rooted in fatphobia, and can be a contributing factor in preventing people from fully recovering. Many recovery modalities are based on assumptions on how 'sick' someone could really be based on their body size, which is also used as a barometer for how they are progressing through recovery (EW, we know.). We know there's a delicate balance between meeting your client where they are and challenging them with a HAES, body neutrality + anti-fatphobic perspective - and we discuss how to do so in this episode. This also carries over into advanced recovery and intuitive eating - where people feel like they are failing in recovery because they don't know what to actually eat!
