Story Transcript:

En: Juan was determined to impress Maria on their date at a Mexican restaurant.

En: He knew that she loved Mexican food, so he took the initiative to suggest this place for dinner.

En: Juan made sure everything was perfect.

En: He chose the best restaurant in town, wore his best suit, and had his hair perfectly done.

En: The waiter gave them the menus, and Juan leafed through them carefully.

En: Finding the spicy section, I knew exactly what to order: the hottest habanero tacos the restaurant had to offer.

Es: "¿Y tú, María?"
En: "And you, Maria?"

Es: preguntó, sintiéndose confiado.
En: he asked, feeling confident.

En: "I think I'll just have some mild burritos.

En: I don't really like spicy," Maria replied, smiling.

Es: Juan no estaba sorprendido.
En: John was not surprised.

En: He knew that some couldn't handle heat like him.

En: Surely Maria would be impressed with her ability to tolerate spiciness in her food.

En: When the food arrived, Juan took a bite of the tacos and started coughing.

En: These were hands down the spiciest tacos he had ever had.

En: Maria looked at him with concern, but was amused at the same time.

En: She could handle the heat well and enjoyed watching Juan suffer.

En: Juan began to sweat and his eyes watered.

En: He asked the waiter for a glass of water to ease the sting, but it wasn't enough.

En: He wanted to stop eating, but he didn't want Maria to think he was a "sissy."

En: Finally, Juan finished his tacos and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

En: Maria chuckled, finding the situation hilarious.

En: When Juan was finally able to speak, he asked how Maria's dinner was.

En: She smiled and told him that the soft burritos were perfect and delicious.

En: The night continued and the couple had a pleasant talk, although Juan still felt the burn.

En: He really wanted to impress Maria with his bravery, but he realized that he had failed.

En: At the end of the night, they said goodbye and Juan promised that he would take her to another restaurant soon, one where they could both enjoy their food without sweating and crying.

En: Maria said goodbye with a kiss on the cheek and a laugh.

En: Juan went home that night, his face red and his stomach burning.

En: But she knew she had learned an important lesson: You don't always need to impress someone with spicy food.

En: Juan smiled to himself and thought about the next restaurant he would take Maria to, one where they could enjoy together without having to look for a bottle of water with each bite.
